Washington's Alexander SEMIN, NHL Point Leader

Tied with Malkin at 10 points, but has 4 more goals than Geno.

Semin is on fire. Was centered first by Fedorov, then by Nylander.

He just dominated during the vancouver game. By far the most dominating player during that game. Totally outshined Ovechkin, Luongo and everyother player by a wide margine.

I think it will be his year if he stays healthy(knock on wood)

Semin is in the Top 10 of the most talented players in the league. Bold statement but true statement.

The thing that has been concerning about Semin in his early career has been the lack of consistancy. Even Washington fans will tell you he looks better than Ovechkin on one shift and then does something totally bonehead that makes you wonder where all that elite skill went. If he can ever cut out those periods of time where he slows down in production and effectiveness then he'll be a 50 goal scorer in no time.

I remember listening to Bryan Muir talk about Semen as being more natually talented then Ovechkin. Just lacked the brain, looks like he may have found it.

It'll be interesting to see who out of Semin, Kuba, and Miettinen ends up taking the Art Ross.

his shot is incredible, best in the NHL, and one of the best i've ever seen. even when his stick barely moves, the puck goes like a bullet.

Brodeur was frozen on two occasions the other night.

His release is better than Ovechkin. I just think Ovechkin shoots harder and more often than Semin. From the way it looks in person, picking up Semin's shot looks like trying to track a lacrosse whip. He hardly flexes the stick and it whips out instantly with a tremendous amount of velocity. Between Semin and Nathan Horton it's hard to say who has the better wrister in the SE division.

As much as I'm loving it, this thread will be obsolete soon.

Semin's been a beast ever since Fedorov was acquired though. Coincidence?

Semin has more skill, but ovechkin's athletic abilty (size/strength/speed combination) and drive is what sets him apart from semin and every other winger in the league. Semin is the quintessential sniper though. That shot, as others have stated, is deadly.

No offense, but Semin's. That kid has a ridiculous shot - even better release and accuracy than Ovechkin, in my opinion. I can't say that about Horton's.

And then there's also his slapshot. Bloody cannon, and his wind up and release are just so damn quick.

Captials did a good job picking him up. As I recall he was only 5'11 when he was drafted. Hes now 6'2 and looks like hes 6'2. one of the best players in the leauge.

Yeah Semin really picked up last year towards the end of the season and stepped it up in the playoffs.

i made a (my first) youtube video tribute on his play at the end of last year. If anyone wants to check it out:

Maybe his keyboard inadvertently had the caps lock on when the SEMIN was released.

Because of there's another Alexander on his team who I hear is pretty good. It's pretty obvious IMO.

I wouldn't sleep on what Nathan Horton can do with the puck on his stick. There are few players in the league that can match what Horton can do with a wrist shot and Semin is one of them but to say it's a walk either way is ridiculous to me. I've watched both of these guys humiliate my team 8 times a year for the past few years and they're pretty comperable in that regard.
