Who is the fastest team in the NHL?

Watching a lot of Oiler-Canuck games I think both are top 5.

Nashville has some speed with Erat, Legwand, Timonen, Sullivan, Walker, Hamhuis, Orszagh, Zidlicky and even Tootoo.

I definitely think Nashville is up in the top 5.. it would be interesting to match that with Semenov, Chimera, Salmelainen, Horcoff (actually beat Chimmer in our skills contest this season), Hemsky, York and Dvorak..

Nashville has speed and toughness, we just lack in size and finishing.

I don't get to see much of Tampa Bay, did see them once this season, and they beat us but I don't remember them being that fast, other than St. Louis.

Ottawa, Oil, and the Wild are a few teams that speed has really stood out on, to me anyway.

Florida has a rather fast team, but where they rank, I'm not sure.

Don't forget San Jose. Sturm, Marleau and Cheechoo all have pretty good wheels.

Are you serious? Edmonton just seems faster because they don't have to endure ( to a certain extent) the constant clutching and grabbing the sens do.

Oilers. Their biggest asset is their speed.

Hedjuk's biggest asset isn't speed, it's his shot. Selanne DOESN'T use his speed(whatever's left), Forsberg's groin doesn't let him use any speed he has, Sakic isn't as fast as he used to be, and Blake isn't fast.

Probably not top 5, but NJ is a very fast team

Niedermayer, Rafalski, Elias, Gomez, Gionta, Friesen, Langenbrunner, Madden, Brylin
all have great wheels

Reason I gave Ottawa the #1 was because they have perhaps the fastest skater (or at least top 3) in Vermette, as well as Hossa, Havlat, Fisher and Bondra. That team lives off it's speed.

The Canucks played San Jose last night and the biggest thing I noticed about the Sharks is how fast they are.

personally i'd say edmonton but thats more to do with the western conference more than anything.. not that there isnt clutching and grabbing there but it IS more wide open then the "my team has bigger players than yours" attitude taking over GMs out east.. the sens do have a lot of speed as well..
i'd say the best way to compare is to do it by conference for reasons i vaguely alluded to above..
so, in that sense my choices:
east: sens and bolts
west: oilers, nashville, san jose and colorado (the avs may not have the fastest guys on the ice but when they play together and as a team their speed/skill levels complement each other to make them dangerous and considered a "fast team")
