Higgins doesn't need to get upset about the rumours because they are pissing me off enough for the both of us.

I think Higgins needs to stop trying to grab all the media attention with all these rumours and concentrate on playing hockey. This is getting ridiculous.

Best quote of the article...

"His name returns in rumors because you don't stop talking about Marian Gaborik", Carbonneau told a group of reporters. "Stop talking about Gaborik, and we'll stop hearing Higgins' name."

I'm curious why we only hear of Higgins in these rumours...or why he's always the center piece to the deals. I've never heard any rumours about either Kostitsyn? I wonder if the reason we hear so many rumours about him is he's enough of an asset that other teams would be willing to trade for him yet he's not enough of an asset to us Habs fans to form an argument about keeping him. And by that I mean if someone offers a proposal for Akost you'd better overpay or it's like replace kostitsyn with Higgs and you got a deal.

That zinger by Carbo is awesome. It's crazy how people are throwing out a rumour that has no validity and doesn't make practical sense capwise.

dude what the hell are you talking about?
lol

he's in every rumor because every team in the NHL can use a Chris higgins. leader / solid goal scorer-two way player / young/ good cap hit.

makes him invaluable. fortunately gainey sees this too

Hopefully Gainey will soon step in and squash the rumours hard... although it is of course usually unlikely for any GM to publically rule out any trades involving any of his players

Still... if the Higgins rumours become enough of a media circus distraction to the team (as they are begining to) Gainey just might step forth and make a statement.

Fat chance of that. He hasn't even played a game this year to cause his beloved "rumours".

and knowbody could use an Andrei Kostitsyn? what i'd like to know is why if a hab fan makes a proposal higgins is always the guy who's expendable?

I brought this up as well as a scenario.

Basically, the media brings up Chris Higgins because they know there are 29 teams in the NHL that want Chris Higgins and bad. They've seen what he is capable of and know he could be a captain next season on a lot of other teams in the league.

Hab fans on this board bring up Higgins because they think that if we get Gaborik, Higgins, who missed the net a bunch of times (27 looks like 0 when they talk about Higgins) is expendable. When it coems to a 4th Line D-Man, people feel that Max Pacioretty, a pure rookie in major league hockey, can fill in the Lang line and we'd have a 4th Defenceman to play with Hamrlik.

It's all silliness.

Because his talents are the least "showy" so he seems more expendable than Plekanec or Kostitsyn.
