Game 6: Capitals @ Flames - 7:30pm MT - TSN & the Fan 960

Alexander Ovechkin - Washington Capitals (3-1-1)

@

Jarome Iginla - Calgary Flames (1-3-1)

************* **************

Quote:
During the Flames' exceeding short morning skate — it officially started at 10:30 (although players are always on the ice early), and was over by 10:38 — it was nearly impossible to grasp the lines.

So, for what it's worth, here is a best guess:

* Todd Bertuzzi-Michael Cammalleri-Jarome Iginla
* Rene Bourque-Daymond Langkow-Matthew Lombardi
* Curtis Glencross-Craig Conroy-David Moss
* Brandon Prust-Dustin Boyd-Eric Nystrom

All of which would make extras out of Wayne Primeau and Andre Roy.

On the blueline:
* Robyn Regehr-Cory Sarich
* Jim Vandermeer-Dion Phaneuf
* Mark Giordano-Adrian Aucoin

Extra — Adam Pardy

And, of course, Miikka Kiprusoff (1-3-1, 4.37 GAA, .851) in net.

Ah. Ok, those projected lines definitely quelled my Lombo fears.

Honestly... if the puck doesn't drop on an angry, passionate Flames team then we have a loooong road ahead of us.

This HAS to be our bounce back game. Even if it's not a win, it HAS to be at least a hardfought loss.

I'd love to see the 3rd and 4th line Centers switch places, if those turn out to be the lines tonight.

Boyd with Glenx and Moss would be great.

Both teams need a win bad to turn around their season start.... should be an intense battle and if the Flames only show up for a part of the game they might as well post a loss on the score sheet.

Not feeling this one.

5-3 for the Caps.

I think this game sets off a trade or some one loses a job if we lose.

Yeah, this one has Caps win written all over it, which is exactly why I think the Flames will take this one.

Yeah, but we play them maximum once, sometimes zero times in a season. We tied them in 03-04, didn't play them in 05-06, though we have lost to them the past 2 years.

Now if that stat was along the lines of Calgary not beating Edmonton in 9 years, then I'd be afraid.

As for tonight, expect one of Iginla / Ovetchkin to break out of their slumps, and be the deciding factor. I seem to recall Theodore having our number the last few go-arounds, so hopefuly that doesn't continue.

Should be a good game all-around.

Okay, okay here is a "sweet and happy" post. I think the Flames could win this look at every game besides the first and, they've all been 1 goal games. So there is NO way that the Caps are going to destroy our Flames, well unless they somehow sign the Sedin Twins before tonight.

Oh, and they remember that Hockey has "3" periods and play the "2nd" which they haven't been.

I presume you took the lines off calgaryflames.com, and hence you have Cammalleri on the first line center and second line left wing position (where I assume Lombo would go) in your blog. I assume this to be a typo.

Just an FYI

Washington is 3-0-1(shootout L to Broduer) after an opening night road loss.

Caps want to win, but need a win to turn around their season? If they can get three points out of six on a road trip to Calgary, Phoenix and Dallas(5 wins total so far), they will have broken even.

I expect an interesting game. Half the Caps D is playing a homecoming game(Green, Schultz, Sloan). Ovechkin's fuse remains lit waiting on an explosion. Theodore is back in the west looking for a 60 minute game.

Flames are probably desperate. A Caps blowout tonight might get the coach fired or the goalie benched. I expect the first period to be outragiously intense.

What? Washington has had a great start.

Anyway, I am super excited for this game, as I have tickets for the first time this season, plus Ovechkin is in town.
Nothing can be worse than the last time the Caps came to town, which was by FAR the worst performance by a Flames team I have ever paid money to see.

I don't like the flames chances in this one, but hopefully they will pull a win out, or at least play good and give us something to be positive about.

Flames seem to raise their game after tough losses and against stars like Ovechkin.

I am saying Flames in OT

Hi there, first time poster on this site, just wondering if anyone has any news on the final roster for the Flames this evening? I was hoping Pardy would get to play, he spent his junior career living with my parents, good kid from Nfld.
