Toronto and Chicago

I am not sure what Toronto needs but here are my thoughts:

I saw that Stajan is being shopped by Toronto. Would it be possible to drop C. Adams plus Hendry for Stajan to try him out for the #2 center hole to shift Sharpie back to wing? Stajan makes $1.75 mil for a cap hit and both adams and Hendry have $600k cap hits each. This keeps the Hawks just under the cap but like I said, I don't know wht the Leafs needs are.

Here is my source and quote:

http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/tor081021.html

"Ponikarovsky's name has popped up in reportedly trade talks recently, along with Matt Stajan and Ian White."

Flame On!

I'd do Stajan for Brouwer and a pick.

I don't think a fourth line winger and a #6 defenseman will get us Stajan. I'd like Stajan on this team, but we'd need to send one of Adams or Hendry over with a prospect to make it work under the cap. Blunden/Kontiola + Hendry?

I'd take Kontiola + for Stajan.

I think you'd be pleasantly surprised with what Stajan would bring you guys.

Just a question, but would there be anyway Bolland could be involved in a deal somehow?

No Bolland would not be involved in the trade.

Why are you so quick to get rid of Stajan?

Isn't Stajan plugging it up on the 4th line in TO this year? Does anyone actually still buy into his potential?

Just no room. Apparently he's not a fav of Wilson's either (yet) I think Wilson is just trying to get him to perform better.

I don't want Stajan, and I wouldn't give up Brouwer for him. He's a third line center, we're looking for a 2nd line center.

Pass on this trade.

We don't even know if we have a third line center at this point. Bolland has been alright, but he's a solid fourth line center at this point IMO. Stajan would definitely help us at a position of severe weakness.

If the Leafs deal Stajan, it won't be for a defenseman.

Skille and Kontiola are legitimate prospects, are they not?

If so that's a huge overpayment. Heck, even if not..

Yes they are but i feel Steen is a great 2nd line center who is young. Toronto is in a rebuild so to intice them to give up someone of his age and caliber the Hawks would have to give up something of value.

We have enought prospect depth to part with either Kontiola or Skille. And the 1st round pick will be the 30th overall so it wont do the Hawks much good!

How about moving Antropov to Chicago for one of the mentioned prospects, Skille, Brouwer, Bolland and a first. A line of Antropov and
Havlat would be a fun one to watch.

Hendry is a huge defensemen and Skille is a stud, now why should the Hawks trade them?

Better question is why bother drafting?

Skille will be better then Steen, Hendry will be a top 6 at minimum and Kontiola is like Adam Oates.

I'm really happy with what the Hawks have in the system.

why? whats in it for the Hawks?

I would rather wait for Kontiola and Brouwer to put up more points then Antropov and White.

The upside of both isnt even worth the risk and the trade is lop sided.

Kontiola and Brouwer are beyond the point of "risky" prospects. Your getting young NHL ready players in those two.

Both have pro hockey experience and if the Hawks had the cap room and roster space for em they would be playing in the NHL.

Well the OP was looking fro a quality 2nd line center man, and Antropov has proven in recent years that he is capable of staying healthy and putting up decent #'s.

Kontiola has some decent upside. Brouwer does as well but he has yet to crack the line up and he has been in the Chicago organization for some time now.
