6 games a good benchmark for anyteam that had such massive turnover of players, ownership, staff and a change in strategy.

Also what is with all the Tampa bashing you always seem to throw out??

He will be back on ESPN after the season, maybe sometime during the season.

He'll will get fired IMO. Simply not much of a coach. I'm also gonna bet he at least makes it to end of this season before returning to ESPN.

Yes because the new owners want to win right now, and Tampa is just not good enough. Add that on top of Tampa's attendance so far which has been pretty bad for them. The owners can't be happy one bit. I know I'd be pissed, but I'm sure they can't find a legit replacement right now.

Tortorella would be doing much better with this team. Maybe the whole Dan Boyle situation has pissed a lot of people off on the team.

Probably not during the year but he could step down after. I don't know how much 'coaching' he does. At least the style he has the team playing is not as distinctive as under Tortarella.

ABout the attendance, every home game has coincided with the biggest sports story of the year in Tampa, the Rays and the march toward the World Series. There's your attendance "issues" right there.

no because the owners wont admit that he was a mistake. also i believe that he was brought in as a marketing ploy and the reason all the assistant coaches are so good is because Melrose isnt a good coach and the players wont listen to him, but they will listen to the assistants

not much of a team. throwing tons of money to all these players and hoping to be good doesn't usually work. just like pittsburg a couple years ago.
he'll be gone by about game 25 because someone has to take the fall.

I'm going to say he will not be fired this year and he will not end up back on ESPN. Maybe next year if Tampa continues to under perform.
