Are the Leafs cheating to get Tavares?

Apparently, they're trying to put forth the argument that switching goalies during the game's most critical point is "strategic"......

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=2534...s=topStory_nhl

How much you wanna bet they do this in EVERY shoot-out game this year?

Why would they come back to take the game to OT in the first place if that was their strategy? Why not just play with an empty net every game...

How is it cheating to utilize your resources to achieve a goal? If their goal is a top five pick, then let them tank. If their goal was to win the game, then it didn't work.

These decisions always make me laugh because if the Leafs had come out on top, everyone would be calling Wilson a genius.

Hey, there's an idea!

King's next starting line-up:

Moulson - Kopitar - Brown
_____Moller - Purcell
________Boyle

T. Murray: "See, we're just trying to get our kids used to the concept of defense. What better way than to play without a goalie?"

Who cares? The Leafs need many more pieces than just a top young center to get them into playoff contention.

You know they still got a point right? If the ultimate goal is to lose, why didnt they pull the goalie with a minute to go? Start Joseph?

Though I hear hear Tavares is the next Wayne Gretzky.

Toskala is HORRIBLE in shootouts. Also, I thought about what would happen if we pulled Burke for shootouts a couple times. Burke's style sucked balls in shootouts.

Cheating to get a *CHANCE* to draft Tavares... Granted if you are last you will get a really good player just as the Kings did last season, but it is not worth it in my opinion.

QFT. Somebody cue up video of Toskala looking fairly helpless against the Rangers in a shootout this past week. Toskala and Nabokov have below average shootout stats. Do you think Ron Wilson perhaps has some experience with that? It's rare, but off the top of my head I believe Atlanta threw out Kari Lehtonen to replace Johan Hedberg a few years ago to try to win a shootout.

(apparently Toskala didn't do a single shootout in 2007?)

Can't let it go, can you?

And Tavares plays like Brett Hull, not Gretzky.

We don't need to cheat. We'll be in the running for a Top 5 pick because we lack offensive finish.

Pretty sure the stat is that Toskala is 0-8 in the shootout at home and he told Wilson he wasn't comfortable in shootouts. Regardless of who is in net for us... we can't score anyway.

Professional athletes have pride. No one ever throws a game when they're a top-level competitor.

I was at the game last night, and believe me when I tell you the Leafs are not tanking it in any means. OT... the ducks looked awful last night and did not desrve the 2 points.

Toskala is so bad in shootouts that earlier in the Parros out faked him in a breakaway.
