I'm definitely not comfortable with trading away picks and prospects for a stop gap. We are still dangerously thin in young talent and prospects and lost a 2nd and 3rd for Bernier already.

I think it would work, personally. These past few years, we've seen that Gionta is a pure complimentary player. He can't really do jack on his own. But as long as there is a pure set-up man with him, he can put pucks in the net.

I think he'd do well with the Sedins, personally. Or a guy like Thornton. Or (insert random playmaker here).

I'd be interested in Gionta, he's a RH'ed shot and has shown the ability to be a sniper in the past. I think expecting much more than 25 goals out of him at this point is wishful thinking, but another 25 goal scorer would be a godsend for the Canucks. Not sure if the two teams are great trading partners though. Bieksa would be of interest to New Jersey I'm sure, but I can't see the Canucks trading Bieksa for Gionta who could be gone after the season and adding a pick or marginal prospect on New Jersey's side doesn't even it up from Vancouver's POV. I also don't see Ohlund or Salo waiving their NTC to go to Jersey.

Raymond's not going anywhere soon or into the long future either.

He's not burying the puck yet the way it should be expected from him. You just can't buy that kind of skating ability he has. It gives his linemates the few extra feet sometimes needed to find open ice as the D-man backs up in fear of his afterjets.

I remember Kesler being like that too when he first came up. He just needs time to learn the NHL game.

Nothing has changed with Raymond. The guy is still showing he has top 6 forward written all over him. Imense speed, quick soft hands, but he just has to learn how to shoot and get stronger overall. Still, he can play top 6 right now. He wont go cheap.

He also needs to learn when to use his speed and when to hold off. A few times this year I've seen him blaze into the offensive zone only to have no teammates within range of getting him the puck. But the talent is obviously there, he just needs to work on his game.

Vancouver has the space to sign Sundin even if Demitra wasn't hurt.

It would surely make Vancouver a powerhouse team in the west.

Sedin-Sedin-Bernier
Demitra-Sundin-some bum
Burrows-Kesler

Elder, Beiska, Ohlund, Salo, Mitchel

Luongo

That looks to me to be enough to have people talking about chances at winning a cup.

Fractured cartlidge? I didn't even think that was possible.

It's like the guy's had every injury in the book and now he's discovering all new ones. Next year, he'll probably be layed up with Pavol Demitra's disease.

Let me just reiterate how glad I am that Patrick O'Sullivan is a King.

Don't get me wrong guys, I love Mason Raymond and I think he has a great future, but I don't think that makes him untouchable. I think if he is gonna be worth something in a trade we have to consider dealing him.

I don't know how cheap Knuble will go, but he probably would help the Nucks out. Lupul is busting out of his prolonged slump, and either way, I doubt Philly would trade him cheap.

Where's Glen Murray? He'd be a good option on the short term. Has he signed somewhere? Anyone know/care?
