Schubert finally gets his chance on D:

Quote:
The Senators did not skate on Saturday morning. Alex Auld will start against the Maple Leafs, Martin Gerber out with pulled muscle in his leg. Head coach Craig Hartsburg says Gerber is only day-to-day but Brian Elliott has been called up from Binghamton. Christoph Schubert replaces Luke Richardson on D. - TSN

Never thought I'd be happy to see Schubert on defence but here we are...

Awesome, I saw Richardson out of place on a goal last night and he couldn't catch up due to his lack of speed. He's a fine injury replacement and 7th d-man but I don't really wanna see him as a regular.

I don't like Schubert on D. I like Luke there better, he doesn't take the stupid penalties after the whistle.

I'm thinking (hoping) people are somewhat joking, just glad to see Elliott. I'm the same. I dont like Gerber, if I saw him in public I might flip him the bird, but I'm not nuts enough that I wish for him to break his legs.

Well I'm quite happy to see Schubert get the nod on D over Richardson. I love Mad Luke, but the game speed has finally caught up to him, and having a rather slow d-mate amplifies this weakness in his game. Hopefully Schubie can clear the front of the net and lay some good solid body checks.

Are we watching the same Richardson?

Schubert gets his chance. Hopefully he can prove me wrong and run with it, because I don't want to see Richardson back there anymore.

management says that they want a team that's hard to play against. well to me, the hardest line up tomplay against has the big line together, they can control the play for extended periods of time and in past seasons they have been plus players. as well going by this years stats we are playing well on special teams but struggling 5 on 5. whereas in the past it's been the opposite. put the big line back together, that helps us 5 on 5.

Schubert on D I'm shocked to say the least. Egos are put in checked and a decision that puts the team first is made.

When's the last time we've been able to say this in Ottawa?

Now that Schubert has been in the dog house (for his comments), and that he may actually be better than some of our defensive choices so he can add something while Lee developes a little bit more. I said during the summer that I injoyed the competition now, however, some of the contracts have made it difficult to have true accountibility and responsibility. The Picard contract is one of them. The over payment of both Fisher and Kelly. Both playing like crap, Fisher is back in game shape, but, damn point production will always be a question mark with him. Kelly, I just don't think is playing smart like he has in the past.

Maybe the idiots running this team shouldn't have made such a big deal about accountability being the thing this year if they didn't have the ball to go through with it. Selective accountability will destroy a room harder than the country club mentality that Murray brought to Ottawa.

Or we just don't know what the accountibility is. The want hard work and lack of team play. It has nothing to do with how much Gerber or Picard, Smith, Richardson, Fisher, etc suck. What is the selective accountibiltiy.

Okay, so, since I am a first time GDT maker I have some rules:
  • There can only be 24 pages (not too jinx Montreal's upcoming Stanley Cup)
  • Papa L and Freakin have to post atleast once on every page, starting now
  • No more than 15 trolls, especially on a night like tonight
  • And... everybody must wear their SNES jersney during the game
  • I am too blame if the Sens lose, and I must keep making GDTs if they win. I am on call of GSG11, I must follow his roots.

Carry On...
