Solid first period. Great pressure and some bone crushing hits. Now Our PP was perfect in the first period (1 for 1) but a bit of luck certainly comes into play there as the puck bounced off of Bertuzzi's skate, Michaluk's stick and into the net. But hey ugly or not it's a goal. And congrats to Prust on his first ever NHL goal from Primeau on a gorgeous pass. See? I said to watch him and lookie lookie!! He starts to get points!! I am buying a 6-49 tomorrow

Aucoin, what is your problem? First you make a horrible bad play which had to be saved by Dion. Then you take a stupid stupid penalty, which directly led to the first Pheonix goal.Tho I agree with Preston that the hit on Boyd SHOULD have been called, and thusly the goal should never have counted.

Also from what I've seen so far the officials are letting ALOT of obstruction slide on both teams. Not that I mind, but once again this calls back to my beef of CONSISTENCY!!!!

Start the second with a Kipper special!!! That was the Save of the Game™, tho Tellqvist with the highway robbery on Prust certainly makes a case for that honour too. This was by far and away the best second period the Flames have put together all season thus far. Solid effort, skates going, active sticks. And Dion shows what a second effort can give you with a goal off his own rebound.

Seriously, that was a solid 40 minute effort, and this is exactly the type of game the Flames should be playing at all times. Sure there were a few lapses, but they were small and quickly rectified. Now I don't know what happened in the locker room, or what Keenan said to the troops, but let's please please continue to see more of the same.

Really the Flames have been great so far. Tellqvist has been the best player on the ice for and the only reason this game isn't out of hand.

Here is hoping for a great 3rd.

Agreed about Tellqvist. Makes me all pissy cause I didn't take him in my various pools due to his team.

/me kicks his self in the bum

Ah well hindsight 20/20 and all that

Iggy EN goal - 4-1 win

Anyone hear what Lombardi's injury was last game , how serious?

Great game, great effort, and Oilers losing 5-3, little things in life that make you happy

Wow, I love being able to say the effort and strong work ethic was in evidence again, as the Flames never let up on the Coyotes. Smartplays, clean(ish) passing, and staying out of the sin bin. The Flames just kept coming at the Yotes, finishing their checks and never letting them really get a play set up.

Also it was wonderful to see Miikka stay in form. Moving side to side fluidly, reading the play and coming out of the paint to challenge the shooter. ALso very nice to see the rest of the team (Vandermeer) stick up for him and clear the crease of opposition players. I have to comment tho, Yandle flew through the air on that light shove as though he had springs in his skates.

My only beef of the third is that when the Flames got hemmed into their own end, they started chasing the puck around a bit. Smarter defensive zone coverage, which was mostly the way our heroes played, needs to also be a full sixty minute priority. But other than that I cannot complain. Well I could say some things about Tellqvist and his ancestry, but that would only be sour grapes.
