Drury or Briere

Well, I know we picked up Drury obviously, but do you guys think he was the right person?... His stats aren't really amazing, and I think a Briere-Gomez-whoever line would be VERY effective. Truth is Briere is definitely more of a natural scorer than drury. Did the Rangers make the right choice?...

Goals aren't everything. I think Drury brings alot more in every aspect of the game than Briere. Briere is a better goal scorer, but Drury blocks shots, is a leader on and off the ice, plays defense and has a knack for clutch goals. I'll take him.

Drury fits much better into our system than Briere would IMO.

We chose the better of the two... There was so much negative pub regarding Briere for so much of the season while Drury just does so many things that help a team win.

Yeah exactly, so playing great defense stops the opposition from scoring goals, so the Rangers will be the winners

Drury will deliver full value on his contract. Briere will be an albatross for the Flyers sometime over the next 7 years.

you guys dont need gomez and briere. Better to have Gomez-Drury, like we have Briere-Richards.

Do you want someone to score a lot of goals, make highlight reel plays, and put up impressive stats in the regular season?

Then pick Briere.

Do you want someone who is absolutely clutch in the playoffs and a leader in the room?

Then pick Drury.

I think you guys made the right "choice" too. I love me my "Cookie Monster."

For the record, I don't think Drury-Briere was a "choice." Drury wanted NYR, Briere wanted Philly. I think the better comparison would be Gomez-Briere. And even in that case, I still think you made the right choice. 1-I can't be having Gomez playing on my team; and 2-I freakin' love Briere. Bottom line, I think both teams are happy with who they acquired this off-season.

Good luck the rest of the way against the Devs.

we're not paying drury for his point totals. we're paying him for his all-around game, clutch goals, leadership, defense, and playoff performance. hate to reference the yankees being a mets fan, but Drury is our Mr. Intangibles ala Jeter. Plus you automatically get one of the top Captains once Jagr decides his time with the Rangers is done. Hard to find a worthy leader in today's game, someone who exemplifies the role and is respected by everyone including teamates, management, officials, and the opposition.

Both are solid centers and good leaders. Both are incredibly different. As has been mentioned, I think Drury is a much better fit for your team.

This year Drury without a doubt.

But next year if JJ bolts and everything, then we might stand in a position where we desperartly needs pts and production. And Briere would defenitly help on the PP.

Here's a question. Drury & Gomez or Drury & Briere? We all love Gomez but I don't know if I could turn down Briere's 30 goals and his powerplay chemistry with Drury.
