Don't know why you would consider licensed music. It takes FAR more talent to create a good original music as opposed to buying other people's music. Even then, licensed soundtracks are more likely to cater to a more narrow taste in music. It's easier for an original soundtrack to be universally acclaimed than it is for modern pop music that you hear on the radio. To me, a licensed soundtrack doesn't deserve to be recognized as exemplary.
For an OST, BioShock, Arcanum, and the Metal Gear series comes to mind. Final Fantasy VII and VIII had fantastic ones as well
All modern covers, by great indie and alternative artists, of classic oldies from the 50s and 60s. Commissioned especially for this game.
I really love some of the tracks on this soundtrack. Especially Cake's cover of "Strangers in the Night" and Oranger's cover of "Mr. Sandman."
hahaha, I have that. Never played the game, but the music is great. Death Cab covering Earth Angel, The Ravonettes covering My Boyfriend's Back, and, of course, The Flaming Lips covering If I Only Had a Brain.
