Hitmen draw first blood in the series, thumping the Oil Kings 5-0 in Game 1.

Goals from Schultz, Foucault, Broda (2) and Kozun.

Listened to the game on the radio. Anyone go? Sounded like there was some bad blood brewing in the last 10 or so minutes. Would be nice to see a rivalry with these two teams.

The Hitmen didn't get going until the second. They spent more time than usual in the box during the 1st period.

By the 3rd, you could tell Edmonton was frustrated. Started laying some cheap shots. I think Seabrook tried to go with Lee after Lee cheapshotted another player. They were going back in forth with each other while in the box.

The Oil Kings don't have much hope unless they can some how get the Hitmen off of their game.

Looking forward to game 2 tomorrow!

Hitmen take Game 2, beating the Oil Kings 2-1 in OT.

Goals from Foucault and McMillan (OT winner) for Calgary.

On to Edmonton now, with a 2-0 series lead.

That was the Oil Kings game to take. From what I heard Jung stood on his head, but they just couldn't pull it out. Looking forward to the next two games. It'll be nice to watch some 'Dub playoff hockey.

The officiating in the series is a bit of a head scratcher. Today the Hitmen spent the last half on of the first on the PP (with two 5 on 3s) while the Oil Kings spent the first bit of the second on the PP (one 5 on 3).

It's been a bit strange. The Hitmen gave up a PP goal and weren't able to convert on any of their PPs.

Btw, I'm a Blazers fan in Calgary. Since the Hitmen and Blazers rarely go head to head, I'm cheering for the Hitmen.

Hitmen beat the Oil Kings 4-1 tonight, and now take a 3-0 series lead.

Calgary goals from Plante, Broda, Kozun and Schultz.

Go Hitmen!

Dominating performance by the Hitmen. Edmonton just couldn't generate any offence at all. Jung is one heck of a goalie. Really played well and held the Oil Kings in the best he could.

Really dissapointing crowd in Edmonton tonight. Hopefully game 4 is a bit better, but I'm not expecting it now.

Sweep! The Oil Kings managed only 3 goals against in the series.

Good for Jung. He gave the Hitmen some fits.

Better game tonight by the Oil Kings, but they still just couldn't generate any offence. They had a solid start and managed to get the first goal, but after the first 10 minutes it was all Hitmen. Gotta give Edmonton credit they worked hard all series long and Jung really played well, but the Hitmen are just on another level. Looking forward to round 2.

What's up with Sonne? He was a scratch tonight.

Loved the sweep! Now that's how you start the post-season.

Kudos to Jung on a great job in net for the Oil Kings. He was the only reason the series didn't get out of control.

Foucault was red hot in this series. What an awesome acquisition he turned out to be. A change of scenery has really benefited him.

I can't wait for round 2 to begin. So it'll be either Lethbridge, Medicine Hat or Swift Current in the Eastern Semi-Final. Of those three, I hope it's Swift Current so we can get a chance to see Negrin in playoff action.

Sonne was a scratch due to an upper body injury from Game 3, and is day-to-day.

So fwe finally find out who the Hitmen will be playing in the second round. It will be the Lethbridge Hurricanes as they beat Saskatoon in game 7 tonight. Series starts on Friday. Hopefully the week rest doesn't effect the Hitmen too much. Here's the schedule.

#1 - Lethbridge @ Calgary; Friday, April 3 (7:00pm MST)
#2 - Lethbridge @ Calgary; Sunday, April 5 (2:00pm MST)
#3 - Calgary @ Lethbridge; Tuesday, April 7 (7:00pm MST)
#4 - Calgary @ Lethbridge; Wednesday, April 8 (7:00pm MST)
#5 - Calgary @ Lethbridge; Friday, April 10 (7:00pm MST)**
#6 - Lethbridge @ Calgary; Sunday, April 12 (5:00pm MST)**
#7 - Lethbridge @ Calgary; Tuesday, April 14 (7:00pm MST)**

I'm coming down to Calgary for the weekend and to catch the flames/kings game on Monday and am hoping I'll be able to catch Sunday's game. Will I have any trouble walking up and getting tickets Sunday? Or should I get them in advance?

Being how this is the playoffs, you should probably get them in advance just to be sure.

if anyone is planning on coming to Lethbridge for some games and needs recommendations on hotels, restaurants or anything about the city just hit me up in in PM and I'll be glad to help out with suggestions...

as for this series unfortunately I hope the Hurrishames win... i despise the team but if by some miracle they advance there is a pretty decent chance of seeing Aulie roll thru town in the next series... and naturally I would want the canes to win again so that we could possibly see wahl or backlund or even bouma in the whl finals

Man oh man I love the Hitmen-Hurricanes rivalry. This series has started exactly how I thought it would, and with a ********* like Kyle Beach now on the Hurricanes, there's gonna be fists-o-plenty in this series.

Hitmen thumped the Hurricanes 7-1 tonight, to take Game 1.

Hitmen goals from McMillan, Kozun (2), Postma (2) and Broda (2).

That sequence in 3rd where the Hitmen went up 5 on 3 and scored was awesome. Schultz topped it off with a fight. The Hitmen were dominant. Game 2 should give us a better indication of how this series is going to turn out. The Canes just came of the 7 game series with the Blades.

Not a fan of Beach and his antics. Something is wrong with that kid.

Hitmen win 2-1 this afternoon, to take Game 2 and a 2-0 series lead back to Lethbridge. This team just keeps rollin'.

Hitmen goals from Foucault and Karpov.

What a pickup Foucault has been. All 3 games I've seen him now he has just been great. Has a good nose for the net.

Pretty good game this afternoon. Fast paced and physical. Kyle Beach is a bit of a punk. Not impressed by him at all.

No kidding, huh? Foucault has been an excellent addition.

I'm still waiting on someone to feed him his teeth in this series. But to be honest, I haven't been impressed at all by Beach. I'm not just talking about his antics, but his overall play. He's had no impact on this series at all, and the Hitmen can only benefit from the PP time they'll continue to get thanks to him.

Yeah I didn't really notice him much at all. Ddin't really create anything and seemed to float quite a bit. Did like going to the net and getting into after the whistle. That was pretty much the only time I noticed him. And I see he got another misconduct in tonight's game. Hitmen must be doing something right to continue to frustrate him.

Would be nice to close up the series tomorrow night. Looking like a Calgary/Brandon series coming up. That'll be good.
