Aaaaaaaaaand that's it for the 2nd round. Hitmen come through with the sweep and make short work of the Hurricanes, winning 6-0 tonight in Lethbridge to take Game 4 and win the series 4-0, moving on to the Eastern Conference Final.

Goals tonight from Sonne, Broda, Plante, Foucault, Kozun and Schultz.

Yep 8-0 so far. In those 8 games they have given up just 7 goals if my math is correct.

Brandon went up 3-0 tonight so that is the likely opponent and that will be a much closer series. The Wheaties will give the Hitmen a good run I think.

Kris Foucault: 8gp, 7g, 0a, 7pts, +6!

What a pickup this guy has been. Biggest surprise of the post-season for me. No assists, but 7 goals in 8 games. A quiet acquisition that's looking to be a clutch player.

So it will be Calgary-Brandon in the ECF. Should be a good one.

It'll definetly be a good series and should be a lot closer for both teams who have gone 8-0 in these playoffs. Also a chance to see Aulie who has been awesome for Brandon (+17 in 8 games). Might just have to come down for a game or two.

Joel Broda is not ranked in the THN future watch for Washington's prospects. Yet he has really lit up the WHL. Can anyone tell me why? I assume he lacks quickness or is just an average skater. What is his NHL potential?

The Atlanta Thrashers signed Paul Postma.

No idea. I don't understand why he wouldn't be. I didn't watch him play much when he was in Moose Jaw, but speaking from his time in Calgary, he's been just awesome. I can't really think of anything to knock on his game.

Hitmen send a message to the Wheat Kings, thumping them 9-3, to take Game 1.

Goals from Plante, Bortis (2), Golicic, Foucault, Fiddler, Postma, Broda and Seabrook.

Aulie had 1 point (1a, -1) for the Wheat Kings.

Damn quite a lopsided game. Thought this series would be closer. I expect a better Brandon team on Sunday though.

Hayes(shoutout to a fellow sherwood parki native) is a good goalie, but definetly the weakness of that team and it seems like Calgary got on him tonight with 5 goals on 15 shots. If Brandon has any shot at upsetting the Hitmen he'll need to be better.

Has been amazing in the playoffs. Had another 3 points tonight. Probably the best player in these playoffs for the Hitmen. Especially in the 3 games I've seen. He's been a hell of a pickup.

Hitmen win Game 2 today, 5-4 over the Wheat Kings. Calgary leads series 2-0.

Hitmen goals from Bortis, Broda, Stone, Schultz and Sonne.

Aulie finished the game with 1 point (1g, -1) for the Wheat Kings.

Game 3 tonight in Brandon, and the Hitmen win 4-3 in OT, taking a 3-0 series lead. Not a very good game for the Hitmen tonight. Way too many turn-overs for the Hitmen in this game. Jones kept them in and gave them a chance to win.

Goals from Sonne, Foucault (2) and Schultz.

Foucault is a stud. The guy has been clutch in the post-season.

Wow the Hitmen just keep rolling. Really surprised Brandon hasn't taken a game yet. I thought they would take it to atleast 6 games, but they must be pretty discouraged after tonight's loss. Sounds like it was a good effort from them, but they still couldn't pull it off.

Here's hoping the Hitmen finish this series off tonight, so they can get some extra time to rest their players for the Finals. Which ever team the Hitmen will face in the Finals will likely be beaten up and tired from what I expect will be a 7 game series, so it will benefit the Hitmen to sweep this series for the rest.

Go Hitmen!

Goals in three consecutive games for Sonne? Can anyone tell me how he's looked since coming back from injury.

Also could anyone give me an idea if Ian Schultz has a shot at NHL duty at some point in his career.

12-0 is impressive even if they did play a little sloppy last series.

Sonne's looked great since coming back from injury, like he never missed a beat. In his first game back, Lowry had him centering the fourth line to ease him back in, and he scored a goal (maybe even two, I can't remember).

IMO, I would say yes.

Thanks StreakingRed, I appreciate the info.

I get a big kick out of hearing the name Dave Lowry as a long time Blues fan. If memory serves Lowry-Bassen-Rich Sutter was our "Green Beret" line. This of course was in the days when the Blues were a team full of johnny hustles.

Does Sonne play 1st/2nd PK ?

How physical is he really ?

How do you think he would handle decreased ice time and a lesser role as a rookie in either the AHL or NHL ?

What role do you see him in at the NHL level ?

These are some questions I've been kicking around and I'd really like your opinion.Thanks.

He's not overly physical, but he does have an edge to his game. Not the kind of player that will awe you with huge hits, but one that will outmuscle and outbattle opposing players for the puck.

I can't see it being a problem. He usually gets his share of ice time, so hard to say how he would handle it, but I've seen nothing that would lead me to believe he wouldn't handle it well.

Most people I've talked to about Sonne have said they see him as a solid 3rd line player in the NHL someday. IMO he has the potential to be a good 2nd line player.

As the Flames are out and the Rockets beat the Giants I must say I am going for Kelowna (ducking debris). I just am so damn impressed with Backlund.
