If NHL Players were MMA Fighters
I've been watching more MMA recently, and I find it very interesting.
It got me to thinking which NHL players with a little tutelage would be the best MMA Fighters...
I think Iginla would be a beast. He is in incredible physical condition, and he's strong.
Now not to say that these NHLer's would compete with real MMA stars but just in the MMA octagon amongst each other.
Iginla
Macintyre
Laraque
Who do you guys think would be the best...

Visors aren't allowed in MMA.

Laraque would be Fedor. Not obsessed with fighting, does it as a career since he's the best at it.
Neil would be Tito Ortiz. Not quite a heavy, but a good fighter (in the past in Tito's case) hated by many.
MacIntyre would be Lesnar. A huge guy, but a lot of it is hype. Uses size as a major advantage.

Chara would downright dominate the NHL in MMA fights. In addition to his size and strength, he's an experienced wrestler which gives him a ground game most NHLers probably don't have.

Rick Rypien boxed his entire life, his father owns a gym. He'd just need to work on his ground game.

AHLer Jeremy Yablonski, who has 1 NHL game under his belt, has participated in 2 MMA bouts, knocking both opponents out in under 20 seconds. Dunno how good of a fighter he is though, probably just a strong arm.

Rick Rypien is one of the best welterweight fighters I have seen on the ice... however he injures himself all the time.
I would think that Zdeno Chara would also be an absolute beast.

I guess theres a reason pro fighting has weight classes. When 175 pound Rypien took on 230 pound Garth Murray he got absolutely demolished.

Chara, his father was an Olympic wrestler, he's trained in the sport since childhood. Plus he's 6'9 260 lbs, there's not many who would be able to get inside of him with his reach and strength.

MMA, not choreographed wrestling. Technique will beat out huge size a surprising amount of the time. Look up Cro Cop vs. Sapp on youtube if you don't believe me.
Edit: or Fedor vs. Semmy Schildt (I think that's how you spell his name).

They arent 7'2 and 400 ripped pounds though. Really I want to see someone like that fighting a smaller guy. Giant Silva always got embaressed in MMA, but he's a loaf and was out of shape.

Khali has no knees... Chara would take him down in 5 seconds and probably Ground and Pound him after.

You honestly think a guy who gives up 140 pounds would just do that with ease?
