Martin St Louis

How could we bamboozle Tampa into trading St. Louis to the Rangers?

Of course Id love to trade them Dawes and Prucha in a 2 for 1 but thats not getting it done.

Would you add Sanguinetti in a trade for St Louis?

His cap hit is 5 mill but hes signed until 2012

Cap hit is too much, considering what we already have and what we hope will be added to that salary (long term deals for Dubinsky, Staal, Zherdev, etc.)

Also, he's already in his thirties, not that he's done by any means, but I might reconsider if he were 25.

So no for me.

If Tampa were to trade him which they won't, they'd want an equal winger in return, and we don't have that.

I'd give up Rozsival and a 1st though.. if they wanted to reunite him with Malik.

It would never Happen. Do we really need another small wing?

But if he's an upgrade over another small wing already on the roster, how is there a problem? The "small" factor would cancel itself out, and you'd have an upgrade in production.

That said, I think he's on the downside of his career, and I wouldn't want to commit a $5M cap hit to him for the next 4 years (or however long his contract is).

Let's trade for him and sign Gionta and get the Umpa Lumpa line going.

ok I laughed

Look everyones chomping at getting Kovulchuk or Gabby. Those guys are going to be REALLY hard, if not impossible, to fit under the cap/ Maybe Sather can find a way to fit St Louis 5 mill hit

And I would not want St. Louis anyways.

No, and this is all the reason we need right now: http://www.nypost.com/seven/10292008...ion_135763.htm

What should be discussed is NY's plan on shedding salary before next UFA period because we have way too much tied up in way too few players. We have 1 bona fide RW that can play on the top 2 lines and he's up for free agency this summer. We have an emerging star center that is up for free agency this summer. We have an excellent character player up for free agency this summer. We will have 2 defensive positions to fill this summer. We still need another right wing. Singing another high priced player not only fails to accomplish more than 1 of these objectives, it completly prohibits the team from effectively addressing those issues.
