Simon Gagne - Come back player of the year?

Yes it's early but so what?

As a Flyers fan I am very happy to see Simon Gagne back. His speed is back, he works in corners, he is great on D.

So far Gagne played 8 games. Missed one game with a flu.

7 goals 3A
2 PPG
2 SHG
SPCT 31.8
Plus 6

No.
He simply didn't play last year. He's healthy and playing this season and scoring... but I doubt there was any serious concern about whether he could produce if he played. My comeback player would be somebody out of nowhere who I thought was finished (ie: Tkachuk).

Everyone was saying that Gagne and Bergeron were finished too...

I've got Patrice Bergeron as the favorite right now, not due to stats but because I believe Gagne is going to cool off and Bergeron is going to heat up.

Bergeron was/is a 0.90 ppg player the last two years and I hope he can return to form. I'm not trying to take anything away from Gagne either.

Patrice Bergeron, Andy McDonald and Paul Kariya I think will have better comebacks but Gagne is still very good.

No, everybody was saying that they were hurt and there was the possibility that they might not be able to continue their careers. They weren't saying they they'd come back to the NHL full time as 20 point a year 4th liners.

This is lame... like voting Peter Forsberg "Comeback player of the Year" for every full season of his career.

What does it have to do with Gagne? If this is lame do not vote.

and how can you compare Tkachuk to Gagne and his excellent all around game (PP, ES, SH you name it he does it) wtf?

laughable.. but hey.. you have every right to mention Keith.

That's a different question isn't it? Gagne is better than Tkachuk, but we knew that this summer. What Tkachuk did is work hard in the offseason and close the gap again... at a point when he was starting to look like a run of the mill 2nd liner.

Not necessarily, Gagne was very questionable if he would ever be remotely the same again. His concussion lasted a very long time, and he worked very hard to come back. I'm quite surprised he's performing at this level, I had a feeling he was finished.

Tkachuk as well is doing absolutely great, I agree with that.

I agree with you here. We all knew that if gagne was healthy this year he'd be an impact player. I'd rather see this title go to someone like Tkachuk or Kariya as long as they keep scoring.

Not the comeback of the year because he got great stats last seasons so it's not different from this season.

The question is : Will he get injured again?

Comeback only means if he sucked last year. He simply didnt play. He is just continuing where he left off.

I think he will. Whether he does or not, however, it's still good to see him back on the ice.

Tkachuk stopping after one donut while reading the morning paper, instead of gorging himself on his usual half dozen or more, is more deserving of a comeback player award than Gagne, who almost had his career ended by multiple concussions? Really? Furthermore, Tkachuk was near 80 games and 30 goals last season. Unless he duplicates his career year from 1995 in Winnepeg, I can not think of a less deserving player than Keith Tkachuk for a comeback player award.

What does he have to 'come back' from? I never had any doubts about him. Fantastic player.

If it's in terms of a guy who was badly injured, then Gagne and Bergeron.

If it's in terms of a guy who seemed to be on the downside of his career but appears to be rejuvenated this season, Saku Koivu.

He didn't come back from anything. He just got injured. He's playing the way he usually does.
