I hope this quote doesn't bite us in the butt tonight when we face Atlanta...

Wow, Aflredsson singed an extension with the Sens for 4 years / $22 Mil. Now that's a person who wants to play for his current team. A player can say they love playing for ________ as much as they want, but the truth always comes out during payday.

isn't he like 38? That's gonna hurt if he gets injured.

35, almost 36. Injury hurts regardless, but for the way he is playing, that seems like a good deal to me.

The past three season he had 103, 87 and 89 points. Can't complain there.

Not the best post to write before facing Atlanta... You're karma'ing us.

edit: Puh, we got away with it.

Yeah, the guy still plays as if he's 25. I doubt he'll get an injury, but I'm always iffy about giving a guy a longterm deal that's over 35.

I remember having this discussion with some of the Devils fan this summer: one of their biggest weaknesses is Brodeur's insistence on playing and playing and playing . . . At this point he seems to regularly give up bad goals but it doesn't seem Sutter can sit him. Reminds of me of Messier part II when overuse and age caused us a lot of problems.

Anyone else annoyed with the Brodeur watch all over NHL.com.

Every time I go to scores I see that stupid Brodeur watch. I mean hes 8 wins away and 5 shutouts away. That could a few months for the 8 wins and the whole year for the stupid shutout record.

While we might not like having his face on the front page all season long, Brodeur fans probably do.

I actually have to say it's ok. We complain the league doesn't promote its players enough, so if they want to promote Bordeaux - the great old whine - chasing some big records, it's fine I guess.

I don't think Toronto is that terrible this year...unfortunately for them, because they're also probably not that good, so they'll get a so so draft position while still missing the playoffs

Devils up 1-0 on Thrashers and Isles beating Montreal 2-1 on a terrible goal let up by Price.

Also dp out 4-6 weeks after knee surgery. Youch that 15 year deal looks worse and worse every day.

Devils now up 3-0 and Isles now up 3-1.

btw I like the new Isles jersey. Only thing that's wrong is the large ugly logo on the front

Marty leaves the game with what looks like an arm injury. Weekes is in for the first time this season.

shot from the point he went to make a glove save, puck missed the net competely (he looked as if he hyper extended his elbow) slow to get up, eventually another shot came down low and marty couldnt get back up and holding his elbow. Said to be a bruised elbow but weekes said he had a bruised elbow last year which ended up being a torn bicep.

The thread based on the Hockey News article regarding Avery-related turmoil in Dallas was closed, so I wanted to repost the link to the article in here.

(though I'm not the one who started that thread, with all due respect to sbob, I don't understand why we can have OT threads on pizza places and other nonsense but a thread on a very popular albeit controversial Ranger we just lost to free agency is too OT for discussion)

Still wondering why the 'around the nhl' isnt a sticky? We'll be talking about other games all year, no? Any thoughts?

Under consideration....

Personally, I think sticking too much crap to the top of the page defeats the purpose of sticking threads at all.

If around the league is popular, it should be consistently bumped. If it's not, hard to argue that it should be stuck. Willing to hear other arguments though....
