And personally, I don't think he's the latter. For years I argued that he played in a great system and that he was a product of Lemaire, Stevens, etc. But, unfortunately I made that argument for years and I thought I was starting to sound silly because each season he'd do the same thing. He'd start 70+. Win the vast majority. Give up few in the vast majority in them. And in the games I watched, he seemed to make the clutch saves when he had to in tight spots. So I stopped aruging and turned the other way against what I wanted to believe. And here I am, actually defending Brodeur. I feel so dirty.

That's his first post, and it's basically the model he uses to explore goaltending and the related statistics.

One thing I will give Marty, is that the longevity factory combined with his superb puckhandling skills makes him a very unique and special goaltender.

I just don't agree with that. To me he have always been a part of the Devils, he have never been the Devils...
The last seasons after the lock-out hasn't showed you how the system is all about Brodeur ?

Come on, stop being blind lol, As for the injury comments, we all know if it happened to Lundqvist, Devils fans wouldn't care, as for the Rangers fans they'd be crying, its kinda.. Weird.

I feel kinda guilty because just the other day I was hoping he wouldn't break Roy's record. Hope I didn't jinx him...

Can't say I didn't wish an injury on the guy. I did sarcastically however...

Me: "Brodeur won't get those two records, he'll get injured for the season."
Friend: "You wish... Brodeur's the best and he will have the records in no time!"

So yeah, I called that. I can't complain though. This makes the East all that much more easier. Which is basically saying Brodeur is fantastic.

Weekes has had stretches in the past in which he has been able to be a number one goalie for a long stretch of time. Fletch said it best when he said that the real question we should be asking ourselves is whether he can do it for 50 games, because with Brodeur out for an extended period of time, it might take him even longer to get back into the swing of things when he comes back from rehabilitating a very serious injury like that.

Weekes has been a viable #1 in the past, but can he get back to that point again?

-Debbies win in a shootout...damn, Mike Smith looked awful going down so early (thats what she said), esp on the langenbrenner goal...

Mods- can you please explain why this thread isn't stickied? I'd rather not have to spend the time looking for the thread. I don't see the harm in stickying a thread that can last the whole season....

Wanted to know what you guys thought about the trade the Flyers made tonight acquiring Matt Carle. I am not as educated about players around the league that aren't Rangers and am curious as to what you guys think about the trade...

One can only hope.

In other news...Mark Parrish scores a hat trick in his debut for the Stars, who just signed him to a one-year deal. I think he had a tryout with the Isles a few weeks ago.

Is he still being shopped? Huet hasn't been getting many starts and Khabi's been playing well.

Are the Devils actively looking, or feeling out the Weekes situation first?

I don't see the devs making a move for another goalie. Weekes can do respectable job for them until Marty can come back.

I think if they DO make a move, then the injury to Marty is worse than they are saying. Which would be pretty bad, since they already have him out until Feb.

Just an idea. I don't think the Devils are talented enough anyway, even with Brodeur. But it would make them a lot more competitive if they did go out and bring another goalie in.
