Korpikoski Sent Down to Hartford

Looks like it:
http://stats.theahl.com/hm/transactions.php

6th from the Top

Guess it's better than sitting in the stands every game. I think he needs more time in Hartford anyway. He did well in Preseason and in CR, but when he came back something was missing.

Meh. I don't know how much it's going to do for the kid's confidence. He deserves to be in the NHL IMO, it's just the overload we have, or maybe had now since another one bites the dust, he couldn't find his niche.

Are we going to bring up a dman any time soon?

All right. I do think he is good enough to play in the NHL right now, but understand it. I expect to see him back up

So that means it is between Prucha and Fritsche right now for the last spot, correct?

dawes/prucha

this probably also confirms that Renney is giving one of either Prucha or Dawes one more full shot before he replaces one of them permanently. If korpi was still up we'd otherwise assume that Renney would continue changing the lines nightly seeing as benching korpi long term wouldnt make much sense. frankly id very much like to see one of them gone and korpi be given the full time spot (assuming his play in Hartofrd indicates that he's more fit for the NHL)

and i know its early, but some early fine tuning is a good idea

at this point in time it's the right move.

the kid can play at the NHL level but let him get 1st line bigtime minutes in the AHL and being that he doesn't have to clear waivers it's not like he's a lock to be down for the rest of the year.

This is fine. He got the taste and, like Dawes and Callahan before him, he can work his way back up and prove himself.

Can anyone give a good reason why Voros Dubi and Zherdev aren't playing together?

Feels like last year where Avery Dubinksy Jagr worked so well, yet Renney ripped it apart after the first game where they didn't put up 2 goals. Team never had any offense after that.

you know what? I'm not going to complain much about the move because it does make sense if you are just giong to rotate him with prucha or fritschie. However, I would not have minded seeing him play a few games on that third line wing with Dubinsky and Voros. I think he is probably a better option than Prucha and Fritschier, but still too hard to tell. While Korpedo hasn't shined, he hasn't hurt the team either at all...should only get better as he plays more. Hopefully, he will be back with the big club soon

I don't think there's any doubt that Prucha has outplayed Fritsche. At this point, it seems like Dan is a reserve player who'll just have to wait for an injury, or for Dawes to come under the microscope.

He def has, but Renney did bench Prucha earlier in the season when had a productive game or two. We still don't know for sure if he will give him a bunch of games in a row

Prucha continues to have good games though, debatable if Fritche's had any. Korpikoski was ahead of Fritsche on the depth chart, so I'd say his demotion signals and end to the competition, period.

Makes sense, now why can't we do the same with Rissmiller and clear up more cap room. Having Gomez, Drury, and Dubinsky center the top 3 lines gives more balanced scoring rather than moving Drury to wing.

Ha, funny, I was just talking about this with my sister after I picked her up from school. Korpi's her favorite Wolf Pack player ever. She mentioned to me that he had been scratched the last few games for New York and I suggested they oughta send him down to Hartford so he can play rather than sit. Hopefully he's in the lineup tonight!

I don't think that necessarily means that's going to be the lineup for tomorrow. It would be a stunning move to bench Prucha in favor of Fritsche at this point, unless he's injured.

Because they don't need cap room, but they might need Rissmiller to fill in for an injured player at some point.

i thought rissmiller cleared waivers? doesnt that effectively take his salary off the books?

He wasn't demoted to Hartford and remains with the team. Apparently, and I didn't know this either, the salary is only cleared if he's actually sent down. There's more detail in the "Rissmiller waived" thread.

Since Rissmiller was put on waivers and cleared, if he were to be now sent down to Hartford and recalled at any point, he would have to pass through re-entry waivers.

At which point, if any team picks him up, the Rangers are on the hook for half his salary.

That is why Hutchinson wasn't brought up last year.

Rissmiller is in roster purgatory.
