The Flyers vs. NHL.com

Sorry to make my first post an angry one, but I signed up just to get this off my chest.

The Flyers begin the season with 6 straight no-win games, and NHL.com has NOTHING to say about it. No articles to the tune of "What's wrong in Philly", or the like. Next, they win two back-to-back against an intense rival whom they always have trouble with, and, again, nothing at all, no "Flyers end opening slump", etc.. NOW, the Flyers absolutely dismantle Atlanta 7-0, and NHL.com's big stories of the day are about the defense in Dallas, and Pittsburgh's loss to the Sharks.

I'm a Philly fan in Pittsburgh, and it's hard enough with everyone telling me nobody cares about the Phillies right now, I'd at least like to see a little more coverage, make that ANY coverage of my team on the leagues official website. That is to say, if the league is, in fact, aware of the hockey team in Philly.

::deep breath::

That's what http://flyers.nhl.com/ is for. There are 29 other teams in the league. 2 straight wins isn't really newsworthy.

Besides, NHL.com can't write an article every time the Thrashers are blown out.

So...you're mad nhl.com didn't point out to everyone your team had a bad start?

I've seen quite a bit about the Flyers' sluggish start, even a bit on NHL.com. The Flyers are at the same time one of the most popular, and most hated teams in the entire NHL, and as such, they always get more than their fair share of coverage. If I remember correctly, even HNIC asked "What's wrong with the Flyers?" or a very simmilar question.

About the win last night, it was fun to watch, but Atlanta is awful right now.

Quite honestly, and as dumb as it sounds, yeah. As much hype as was built around them before the season began, it should have been talked about. It may only be three straight wins, but it's after a cup contender lost 6 in a row. It's not too much to ask for a nod.

I think that just shows how bad Dallas's defense has been

I'm a Flyers fan and I have no idea why you're upset. Losing 6, and then winning 3, including a blow out over an awful team isn't overly newsworthy. There are many other teams in the league.

Maybe that's where the issue lies. We're what, not even 10 games into the season for most yet? There are no cup contenders at this point. News is news at this point, and it's going to come from any team that creates the most noise on a nightly basis. When we've played 70 games and Philly is sitting in the top 5 of the east and THEN loses 6 in a row and gets no coverage, then we'll talk.

I'm guessing Holmgren is on the phone with Downie right now.

I guess the NHL figured they didn't want to let the Flyers tank for Tavares
