I think it was a quality goal, a good shot, no chance for tobias

Mixed bag so far in Ott's return...

Good:
Plowing toward the net and scoring (?)
Knocking Owen Nolan down

Bad:
Taking a penalty
Hilariously bad one-timer
Hand pass faceoff

That line is pretty interesting when it comes to faceoffs, all 3 have played center and can step in if necessary. Now if we only had Halpern to get constantly kicked out.

The Wild defense is acting so soff. Dallas isn't doing aything fancy. They are just dumping the puck in and Minnesota is turning it over.

Now comes the dreaded 2nd period...

I think what Razor mentioned about Ott is the most important thing - he brings a level of emotional engagement that drags the rest of them along with him.

The defense has been much stronger this game so far. Good defense. And Minnesota's defense has been so very poor. They look like the early-season Stars.

Boucher was kinda swimming again in the 1st. I really want to believe that it's just rust.

Here's something I have never understand about your, Piqued. You are brutal on Steve Ott even when the team seems to play better with him in the lineup than without him (missed full season is a perfect example), yet you have a rather unhealthy man-love for Miettinen. Why?

"Bringing energy" is just BS. It doesn't exist. Either you play well or you don't. Miettinen is a better hockey player. Pretty simple.

Fabian Brunnstrom has 01:21 of ice time through the first.

Pathetic.

Brunnstrom played all of one shift at ES and one shift on the PP for just over a 1:00 of ice time.

That has everything to do with the coach and zero to do with the player. I was just hoping they were going to use the 4th line more. Barch has even earned more ice time IMO.

Yeah I think it's just that Tippett isn't currently fuming at any of the top 3 lines, which is something you haven't been able to say much lately.

Who says it's a fantasy watch?

I think this kid is gold, this has nothing to do with fantasy hockey. I meant that he isn't being played enough.

Think before you speak.

When it's not your teams goalie, I love the many faces of a pulled goalie.

Have you played a team sport? You need guys who are all effort or all emotion/intensity/energy/whatever you want to call it. Detroit has several, if you want to take recently successful teams.

Miettinen has better offensive hockey skills (and he's been insanely hot to start of the year), but Ott has plenty of value that Miettinen doesn't bring.

I thought Boucher looked all right, but I only got to watch the final 8 minutes of the period. Also so what if Brunnstrom isn't getting a lot of ice time? It happens when other people are playing well. Some nights he'll get 20 minutes.

He has never played 20 minutes.

Point is that Brunnstrom has too much upside to be played for only a minute and half a period, regardless of the score.

Weller has taken some pretty good lines on people for hits so far for the Wild.

uggh Daley use your defense partner there, that's what they're for.

It's opened up a bit in the 2nd but Dallas still looks like they have control of the game, keep it up boys

**alright PP Stars, now it's time to see about ending that little streak they have going on the PK

Yeah, I played varsity soccer.

Miettinen is a better player than Ott in all areas excluding faceoffs, fighting, and team-building/lockerroom stuff.
