Keith Jones on OTR

Michael Landsberg: "Who was the better big money goaltender. Czechmanek or Esche?"

Keith Jones: "Neither. They were both brutal."

I'll never understand why we just didn't put Keith's head in the net.

Listen to 610 when hes on. Everything the guy says is pure gold. Not only that but when he actually stops screwing around and actually makes a serious comment, its well put and correct. His knowledge of the game is just as impressive as his personality.

The thing about Jones is that he will talk to anyone. I've seen him 4 or 5 times and he always stops for a minute to talk. He's very cordial and very genuine.

Certianly would have been an improvement, I'd worry about his rebound control though.

6. In the 2000 playoffs, game two, against Buffalo (only playoff game I've ever been to) with the entire arena screaming "HIT HIM!" when Hasek would come out to play the puck Jonesey was kind enough to take a penalty and give the chump a little bit of a bump.

7. He constantly makes fun of himself for being a terrible player (although he wasnt terrible). he even once pointed out that he was the only player in that 5 OT game against the Pens for either team to NOT register a shot on goal. Classic.

Jonesy said on OTR that when Lindros was about to get nailed by Stevens in the ECF, he was yelling "get your head up" because he was skating right behind Eric and could see it coming. Too bad Eric didn't hear him or listen to the advice.

And as a result of alcohol seeping through his pores and onto your hand you are still intoxicated to this day.

One classic Jonesy quote from Daily News Live that I'll always remember.

Barkann: "Well, you did save Lindros's life after all."

Jonesy (mumbling): "Well, everyone makes mistakes..."

I had a Flyers Stanley Cup ring on my finger once. That's not relevant either, but it kicks way more booty than shaking Coatsey's hand.
