I like Zednik but that is crazy. That's the kind of rumour I would expect from a ridiculously biased Habs fan.

I would do that, even though I don't like Hill.

I understand the notion of going out and getting a scoring forward while trading one away....I don't like it. I want O'Neill and Zednik on the same team. We have prospects and picks to trade. Lets use em!

The way she reported this it looked like a done deal. But I really doubt it ...

The little credibility she has is at stake. Not that it means much ...

If you where listening at Radio-Canada or RDS it was Zednik for Hill and O'Neil...

No mention of Hainsey...

Habs would be eating already a lot by adding 3.7 M$ Contract of O'Neil and Hill will be UFA at the end of the year... it just doesn't make sense to add a high prospect in the trade..

i don't like that deal... from what i can remember, zednik is an incredible playoff performer. i know that O'neill is one too.

Zednik is +7 this year and o'neill is -10.
If you want to take it a little further,
in 8 seasons, "Z" is -3
O'Neill is -95 in 7 seasons.

Maybe O'neill brings muscle and grit, but i see the +/- and it scares me...

I'm with you on this Tuggy. I do not understand the basis for this. As much as I would like O'Neill, I want to keep Zednik.

The +/- stat is a weak one at the best of times and isn't relevant when comparing these two players. Carolina has been a weak team almost every season that O'Neill has played for them.

Regarding Zednik as a clutch playoff performer, he had a hot stretch in the Boston series for 4 games. That hardly makes him a guaranteed clutch postseason guy. O'Neill has had 4 seasons of 30-40 goals.

It started before her....the pre show commentators ON RDS are the source...not that its that much more credible but apparently theres been a lot of rumblings mostly because of the two GMs meeting in Bob's office, that coupled with the fact that Carolina's GM said "Very Good" when asked how the meeting went

I want O'neill but not for Zednik, that wont resolve anything, you still have Perreault on the first line and then Bullis.

I am wearing a Slovakia Zednik t-shirt as I write this, so I must say, no way we get rid of Zednik. VANHAB is right, he is a great playoff performer (see 98 Caps, 02 Habs) and I wouldnt want to part with him.

PLEASE BOB, DO NOT TRADE RICHARD... YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!!!

anyway if the rumor is true will find out right after the game...hope is not Zednik. And btw Sauvageau in the 2 intermission recomended Lindros and can come cheap and help the team in the playoffs.

Dealing Zednik for O'Neill and Hill, while helps defensively, it really doesn't fill the void of needing a couple top line forwards. Its a pretty lateral deal except you get Hill for depth and add payroll.

Now O'Neill is a power forward which Montreal needs, but he isn't playing like one. So I don't know how much a deal of this sort makes sense.

Hill was awesome tonight, and wish he would on our team. But would Julien and Gainey put Quintal in the stands for the rest of the season and playoff?? O'Neil is a good player but not for Zednik. He was invisible tonight, anybody heard his name during the game other then the rumor?

Hill for 3rd round'04
