Can we have a new camera angle?

I was watching the SJS vs DET game yesterday and noticed that whenever power play started, they would switch to camera angle behind the net. It gives amazing view of the play, the blocking, and the goals. It's really cool to see almost from the goalie's point of view.

So why don't we have that on CBC and RDS?

Take a look at this video: http://www.nhl.tv/team/console.jsp?hlg=20082009,2,135 at the 30 sec. mark.

Updated image.

I like that camera angle sometimes, but I find that when Versus or NBC uses it that they use it way too much. Maybe most people wouldn't agree with me, but I like it every now and then, like on a 5 on 3 or for a replay but not necessarily for regular game action or every powerplay. I agree that it would be nice if the angle was at least available in every game though.

Maybe if we try the Myspace angle, Latendresse might look fast.

I would concentrate in having a much better camera angle at the Bell Centre.....god we're so far away compared to most cities....I know they probably can't do a thing about the location of it, but how about a little close up???

I don't mind it for replays... but i absolutely hate it when they use it during the play.

Awards:
TSN usually uses it during powerplays, especially 5-on-3s...I think that's fine but anything more than that...no.

I watched some of the Ducks/Kings game and practically the entire game was shown on that horrible angle.

I hate that camera angle. When they use it it annoys the crap out of me and it just makes it look like a far back version of the NHL 09 camera
It's ok for replays though.

I found it interesting to see from that view point. But I wouldn't be a fan of seeing that view on every power play.

Personally, I love it. I'm a goaltender myself and this angle gives me an awesome feel of being in the game.

To hard to see the play from that angle. Especially when they are cycling the puck out around the perimeter, you just can't see it with all the bodies blocking the view.

The image i orignally posted is a photo not a real camera angle capture. The real angle is placed higher and the players can't block each others because of the angle.

Take a look at this video: http://www.nhl.tv/team/console.jsp?hlg=20082009,2,135 at the 30 sec. mark.

In the screencap, you can see clearly what the goalie is trying to do, look at his head

I don't like the camera behind the net, but during the European games at the beginnig of the season they had moving cameras over the ice kinda like the one they use in football and those were really neat. It gives a really good feeling of how fast the game really is and I think it would be great to have one of these at the Bell center.

I love that angle. So much closer to the play and I love seeing what the goalie sees.

I'll settle for RDS showing us a face-off once in awhile.

+1. It is getting really annoying. It is as if faceoffs are not an important facet of the game.

The NHL does the worst job in all of pro sports, when it comes to camera angles.

Hockey could be the most incredible game for HDTV, with rotating cameras and wire angles. But no, they stick to the same view from the 40's.

You do see what the goalie sees, but its actually further away, not closer.

My friend told me that live, the game is much slower than on tv.

I hate that camera angle as well. Keep it classic and simple, no need to change the way we watch hockey.

What I would like is for RDS to get a new production team though. Their timing with showing stats and giving interviews is terrible, cuts into the play way too much.

I love this angle, as a goalie, it gets me into it more.

I hope they use it for EVERY PP, you could see so much more...
