All Things For CT Ranger Fans

Let's have a thread related to issues for CT fans...like our TV schedule..for example.

I thought I would bring up two points today.

1) Someone told me last week those of us with Comcast who do not get MSG still will get about 70 Ranger games on CSN when the Celtics are not playing or CSPAN.
With me so far?
Well I checked the pre-season schedule. The Rangers are on MSG this Wednesday. I went to tvguide.com, entered in 06084...served by Comcast. I did not see the game listed that night.
Question...are we going to get the game or not? If so...how far in advance will it show on the listings...or will it not show till the day of if it all?
In the past have we gotten blacked out of pre-season games...and if so...should I not be alarmed that maybe I am not getting any regular season games?

2) Spoke to Comcast today. They told me they have received many requests for MSG and SNY. According to them it is being worked on...but complicated with the cable to digital switchover along with bandwidth.
I take it some of you here followed my plea last week and wrote to comcast. If you did so, thanks, it's working...and keep on writting...the more we write...the more likely it is they'll do their part.
Here are the directions below....let's make a difference and fight for out rightful CT TV territory!

Quote:
1) If you go to this link
http://www.comcast.com/corporate/cus.../feedback.html

2) type in any one of these zip codes below
-06066, 06043, 06248, 06084, 06029, 06232

3) Request MSG and SNY

4) Say a similar message on how this area is
-equi-distance to NY as to BOS
-We get Yankees and Bruins/Celtics...so why don't we get all the New York teams
-The Rangers have more fans than the Bruins and a local area farm team.
3) Any other issues concerning Ranger fans in CT...let's use this as the season long thread.

Thanks!

Yeh...what I don't understand...how come if they are showing the games...they just don't get the whole MSG network?

When the Rangers are on...are they listed when you check the TVGuide or do you have no advance notice?
What other channels are they on besides CSN?

Do you have Comcast?
When it is on..do they normally list in the TVGuide on your TV Screen or do you have to just guess and check?

Man Comcast needs to get with it!
So we don't get SNY here..ok well the Mets game is on TBS...but wait..since this is considered NY territory...it's BLACKED OUT and since Comcast does not offer SNY in my town...I'm without the big game.
ERRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

It was on NHL Network so it wasn't a problem for me. No other channels.

What do you mean? It was on the NHL Network and Versus, they were special broadcasts. Fortunately I get those two channels.

I think I said this before somewhere else but apparently they play Ranger games on NESN if no bruins, patriots, celtics or sox games are on. So yeah, once in a blue moon.

I was told Ranger games are on in CT if you don't get MSG regularly on CSN (if no Celtics/Knicks) or CSPAN.

I wanted to know for those in CT without MSG...was the game on SAT/SUN aired locally on CSN or CSPAN?

I already explained this through PM, but I think it would be helpful if I posted it here as well.

With the 10/10 and 10/11 games: The Celtics were playing on CSN, and I could not find an alternate channel. It would be beneficial to watch the games online if you can't find the secondary channel from now on. That's what I did for the 10/4 game, and I'll be doing it more often if other shows prohibit me from viewing the team on television.

I'm surprised/disappointed they weren't on CSPAN?

So did anybody else get screwed last night with no game since CSN had the Celtics?

Has anybody figured out what the alternate channel is/or why there isn't one...and if so...we should REALLY complain loudly to Comcast.
You know if you got NHL Center Ice it would be blacked out...so for 100 bucks a month Comcast better have the game of CSN or an alternative network.

They don't ever put them on CSN or CSPAN on Cox. The Rangers aren't blacked out on Center Ice for us though.

GOT IT!

Spoke to Comcast today...lengthy.
I was told company is in process of converting stations to digital to increase bandwidth.
The alternate channel for Comcast Vernon is 102...BUT....in the future...go to MSG.com....click TV schedule...and it should list overflow channels.
Try the stations used for Comcast New Haven, Branford, Danbury, Seymour if 102 is not on for you in the future.

I was rather ticked not to see either of the Rangers games not on TV up here this past weekend and I'll be even more angry if tonight's game is not on. However, AT&T out of Hartford offers MSG as a regular channel and we're having it installed on Thursday so plenty of Rangers games for me

A side note, Fairfield/New Haven offers MSG Plus as well as MSG as a regular channel listing.
