Watch around 7:39 left in the third. I yelled the moment he made the pass. It turned into the catalyst for tonight's loss. Rangers ended up scrambling to backcheck, Leafs scored, crowd woke up, leafs woke up. Rest is history.

horrible half a period....i hope they learn from this that if they dont play for even short amounts of time even an average team like the leafs will skate circles around them.....they decided they would just put on cruise control and move onto the next game.....cant do that in this league

If you want someone to thank for tonight, thank Scott Gomez. Once again, a simply unacceptable brutal turnover leads to the 1st goal which changed the momentum of the whole game. This is typical of Gomez not knowing (or caring) about the situation. He likes to make the fancy play and often it hurts his team as often as it helps them.

This stuff doesn't get mentioned when we're winning, but it was a catalyst in tonights meltdown, so you best believe he's gonna be a target for trashing.
i turned to my wife and told her....yeah that is going to lead to trouble...Scotty does tend to rely on his great stick handling prowess, but at times, he does tend to give the puck away..this time at the worst part of the ice...the blue line

Come on seriously....did all of you people expect Vally to go like 5 years rocking a 1.40 GAA with no losses?

He took a big stinking **** on that 2nd goal and the game was over at that point.

It happens, get over it.

edit: p.s. this team (or any other) isn't going to get 145 points at the end of a season. No need to slice your wrists, just gotta hope the coaching staff will address the issues.

Thank god I had to go out after the 2nd. Or my TV would be broken right now.

Talk about a complete meltdown.

Epic fail.

Seriously, though, I'm not as upset as I should be because at least we won't stay so complacent and we will remember to work for it and also I know Hank wouldn't have let that happen.

How is that the bright side?

It just means the Habs moved closer to us and that Isles moved closer to a first overall pick.

Isles arent making the playoff anyway, let them get 10th.

The thing that I worry about coming out of this game is that vally's going to have to wait a while to redeem himself after this game. It's not good for a goalie to wait a long period of time and think about this game before getting another start. I hope this dosent hurt him in the future.

Post-Game Press Conference

I was able to record a piece of the post-game press conference which I've transcribed here:

Reporter 1: Coach, is it true that the NHL is launching an investigation as to whether any players in Rangers sweaters were on the ice for the final 7 minutes?

Renny: No, no truth whatsoever. If you look at the in-game photos in fact, you'll see that the Rangers' sweaters are the only ones in focus; it's the Leafs' sweaters which are a complete blur.

Reporter 2: Is that to imply that the Rangers weren't hustling?

Renny: You're missing a fine distinction, Bob. It wasn't a lack of hustle, it's the new defensive system our coaching staff has been developing, the Pylon Scheme.

Reporter 3: Coach, what were your players on the bench doing munching popcorn and drinking soda?

Renny: Our players notoriously have difficulty waiting for the in-flight movie, so after playing 50 minutes of intense hockey, we encourage them to watch clips of 'Juno' on the bench during the final 10.

<Tape Ends>

Sad and Pathetic

In my opinion, they were out played most of the game and it culminated with that major meltdown in the 3rd.

To all those that Love Renney, ye we are 10-3-1, but his in game decisions making skills leave alot to be desired.

Where's the time out after they made it 3-2?

3 goals in less than 2:30 and no time out? Nothing.

Sad and Pathetic

Hopefully, when he's yelling at the team, he has his back to them facing a mirror while yelling cause he's a culprit this season as much as he was a part of the solution last year.

This team was pathetic tonight and were way to fancy. Soft and fancy will lose games to hard working teams.

I think Renney used the timeout after the leafs tied it at 2 but it really didn't do much anyways.

correct me if im wrong, but two things...one during a TV timeout Renney gave the team a tongue lashing, and within shifts the Rangers took a two goal lead....when Toronto scored to make it 2-2 Renney did call his only time out.....

what else is he supposed to do?

Were you even watching the game?... He called time-out right after the Leafs tied it at 2-2

Hah, I saw the first period 0-0. Was out at dinner didn't see the 2nd or beginning of the 3rd. Got back Rangers up 2-0. Then I proceed to watch the Rangers give up 5 goals in a little over 5 minutes. First game of the season I didn't see from start to finish and that's what happens.

I gotta say I've gotten a good laugh from reading the reactions afterwards, even though I rooted for the Rangers. I mean, what else can you do but laugh in a situation like this, really?

They're 5-3-3 in one of the hardest divisions in the league. I'd say that's about average to decent.

The Leafs are a below average team overachieving. If they prove me wrong, great for them, but at the moment I can't see them keeping this up for the remaining 70 or so games.

Good luck to you too, on Tuesday. With the current luck we have, both teams will manage to blow a giant lead in the third hahaha.
