Martin Brodeur

I mean, I know that he will not get dealed, but the Turco thread made me curious what would it take to get him out of NJ. Also take in consideration, that he's a great contract.

My guss would be somebody like Thornton, but I have acutally no idea, since he's no 20 any more(Brodeur)...

hmm... interesting. As a Devil fan, the thought of trading Brodeur has never come up!

I'd imagine a decent young goalie + some skilled players

Why even make these threads?

Brodeur's value? A lot. The possibility of him being traded? The same possibility of me doing Jessica Alba.

I could see him going to a team looking to get the cup this year. They would trade that youthful player with a ton of upside to get an all-word goalie.

A team like Ottawa or Detroit(I know they just won the cup..) would be a team one piece away from the cup.

NJ without Brodeur is Parise, Zajac, a few decent defenceman but generally not a great team by any means.

If they managed to get a 1st, bluechip young IMPACT player, bluechip prospect for Brodeur it will help them speed up the process of `Life without the best goalie in the league`.

What would it take to get brodeur out of New Jersey??

I'd say they'd need to fire Big Lou... Hire Reggie Houle as GM, and get Mario Tremblay as coach.... He'll be run out of town in three months tops.

Brodeur will not land a player like Thornton. The only teams who'd want him would be looking to trade picks/prospects in return. Something like a top goalie prospect plus another top prospect and maybe a pick as well depending on the quality of the two prospects.

Hahaha, awesome.

Saw Ottawa's name come up in a previous post and with the amount they'd have to give up for Brodeur, they would no longer be a 'cup contender minus a goaltender'. They'd be Brodeur, Alfie and either Spez/Heater and a bunch of spare parts.

Most teams wouldnt even come close to having the assets.

Im guessing you would have to start with a Price, or a Turris, and go from there. It would involve a lot of talentand just about any deal (excluding Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin) would end up with the Devils losing.

Brodeur

Since he is the best player ever to play the most important position on the team, there is not enough assets on any other team that would have NJ even consider trading Martin B.

What if Atlanta offered Pavelec, Bogosian and either Tobias Enstrom or Bryan Little?

Or Los Angeles offered Drew Doughty and Jonathan Bernier?

Or Boston offered Manny Fernandez, Tuuka Rask, David Krejci and Matt Lashoff?

I don't know if fans of those teams would actually offer those packages, but I'd see it taking something like that to actually get Lou listening. A goaltender they can ride for seven or eight years, a good defensive prospect and something else nice.

Martin doesnt leave NJ unless he wants to, which i highly doubt... but let's say for arguments sake he wants to win another Cup.

Brodeur for Carey Price

And everyone in the province of Quebec simultaniously craps their pants.

realistically he has no trade value.....
But he is still an elite Goalie....

what i try to say is, nobody will trade for a 75 year old retirement guy.. doesn't matter how good he is

He's also got a few years of contract left, at a reasonable price.

I would never trade him. But if I had to, I'd want:
-A gamebreaker type player
-An incredible goalie prospect
-1st round pick
Laugh and hang up phones all you'd like, but he's the core of New Jersey, and without him it's like a chicken with it's head cut off.

I think i would take Pavelec Bogosian and a 1st.

This all strictly hypothetical though.

I wouldn't trade Brodeur for anybody but a younger Brodeur. Seeing as there aren't any of those around I'd have to say no.

Seriously, for there to be a starting point it would have to be a younger goalie, somebody like Carey Price and a first line forward.

For Brodeur to be traded, first Vanderbeek would have to fire Lou Lamoriello. And I can guarantee that will not happen.

And Luongo has proven that he won't get you what Brodeur does, that's for sure.

Namely, a litany of Vezinas Trophies and Stanley Cups.

Rest assured, Lou Lamoriello does not want Roberto Luongo for his HOF netminder.

I'd say I'd get in on a deal with LA.

Brodeur and Zajac for Kopitar and Bernier
