I'm not saying he had a good game, but the whole "Shooting from everywhere" seemed to be a theme for the whole team this game. To have 35 shots, and barely have any quality scoring chances is revealing. Also, pass to who? Kopitar and Calder have been two of the worst Kings all season long.

I wonder if he will be playing more. If he can keep his good play from last year, and this game going he really deserves it.

He deserves a chance to show what he can do, and everytime he gets that chance he's playing really good. He's RFA at the end of this season, so it's important for both sides to see/show what he can do. (Remember he almost went to arbitration before he signed this contract. And while you're at it also remember Garon and Huet.)

I cant argue with that
is it better to have a great player take a shot in a bad scoring area, or set up a horrible guy in a great scoring area?
I really dont know

Based on one game?

Labs gave up a 1-0 loss to San Jose.

I thought Sully, Harrold and Boyle made some decent plays out there, which was surprising considering their Frankenstein of a line.

Stoll, Frolov and Moller also had some steady pressure. They really should have come away with a goal or two. Another strong, smart game by Stoll.

Ersberg gets the next start or the conspiracy takes flight!

What's up with Kopitar? Is he out of shape? his face seems a little fatter? just doesn't look like the normal duck killer.

I'm here to help. Surprised you're not on the Labs #1 side given he did incredibly well against one of the best teams in the NHL.

I am thinking he is thinking more about how he is going to spend his new found riches than about his on ice performance. Maybe giving a 21 year old almost $50 million is not a good thing.

Eh, Sharks were rusty. They showed their true form in the 2nd game

But i guess this is where you try to be funny and say something along the lines of "but you were just basing it off one game"...yada yada yada

You are clearly frustrated and venting. Blaming the coach for tonight is a cop out. Ignore the defense, ignore Giguere, ignore the sustained pressure, and blame Murray. Laughable.

I will admit the PP is in big trouble. Feel free to ***** about that.

I am, and your right. However, blaming the coach is NOT a copout imo. The Kings probably win this game with decent line combinations. It's been hashed out on the other thread so I wont go into what was so wrong with them

I think Ersberg should get another start, but announcing him as legit #1 after one game is silly.

Why are you encouraging it? They're two different players. Kopitar has a higher potential. Everyone would pick Kopitar over Lubo.

You mean kinda how Labs was announced the #1 before any games?

Huh??? I was stating why I think that Kopitar might be playing as badly as he has....how is that encouraging it? In regards to Visnovsky and Kopitar being different players....that is true....but money can change anyone....and a player having prolonged slumps as a result of signing large contracts is not something new.

Perhaps thats what kept the OSullivan negotiations going long after they should have ended.

Lombardi: Sully, how does 5 million over 6 years sound?

Sully: No way! That much money would make my head explode! I just cant accept this money, Dean, Im sorry.

Lombardi: But Sully, this is my way of demonstarting my faith in you as part of the core! I think this is more than fair!

Sully: I need to be performing at my best! I cant do that with that albatross of a contract!

Lombardi: Playin hardball eh. Ok, 4 million.

Sully: I refuse to sign!

Lombardi: Sully, yer breakin my balls here....

Just a theory.

Is he possibly a diamond in the rough kind of like how Kipper, Lundqvist, and Backstrom were discovered? Is he just getting a bit lucky? What are your thoughts on him?
I don't think he's getting lucky. He's got solid rebound control. Good lateral movement. Two important things that our supposed #1 goaltender is severely lacking. For the first time this season, when the Kings have been tied in the 3rd period, I felt they had a chance to win. The other night, against Calgary, I just knew they were going to lose with LaBarbera in net after they tied it up. With Ersberg, there is confidence the Kings can pull out a win. With LaBarbera, I cringe everytime the puck enters the Kings zone.

What up with the power play? Did Stoll play the point at all like when the PP was working?

Thanks everyone for the responses. I, along with many other hockey fans, believe the Kings are a good goaltender away from being a competitive team. Like I said, I took notice of Ersberg last year and will continue to do so. Hopefully he comes through as your #1 and finally provides the Kings with stability in net. Many quality goalies came out of obscurity to become great NHL goaltenders and I see no reason why a guy like Erik Ersberg couldn't be someone like that.

Good luck guys!

Ersberg earned the next start, and maybe even a couple more tonight. PERIOD. Through 60 minutes he held the hottest team in the league off the board. Labs would not have faired so well. Give EE the chance and he will show who is the real #1 goalie on this team and it aint LABS!
