Were the two last penalties good calls?

The title says it all, were the two penalties to the Devils with less than 4 minute remaining in the game good calls?

Well, looked to me like Niedermayer blatantly butt-ended Ribeiro in the face.

Without a doubt. There actually could have been 4 calls in the last 5 minutes. The refs missed two blatant trips in the Devil's zone.

Are you suprised? That was a tough loss for them...i'm sure they would have been real happy with the 1 point.

There should have been 3 penalties. There was a tripping call missed before the first penalty.

The first penalty was a make up call for the missed one.

Niedermayer's was definitely a penalty, he cross-checked Riberio in the face.

The trip was a tough call because that could have easily led to a scoring chance for us, so I don't fault the refs there. The Niedermayer one was pretty obvious, can't fault the refs for that one. I missed the first 25 minutes or so, so I didn't know the Devils had 0 PP chances until the announcers mentioned it late in the game. Pretty entertaining game, hopefully that anti-Brodeur troll doesn't pop up on the game night board and claim Brodeur lost this one.

if you missed the first 25 mins, you missed an exhibition put on by brodeur, he honestly saved at least 2 for sure goals for you guyz in the first, he played unbelievable, if anyone lost it for you guyz it waz Scott Niedermier he shouldnt have charged at ribs head like that at such a critical point in the game.

We played a tremendous game, and yes the penalties were well deserved, we don't have to feel bad because we won that way. I just find it strange that they didn't have any powerplays but I really don't remember anything that should've been called for us. Anyway, whenever we win, it's always the refs, goal posts or the luck, remember we won the past 2 cups just by being lucky so....

there should have been more penalties for NJ and the devils are lucky that they lost by 1 cause that was a 2nd goal for zednik.

Not only were the penalties deserved, they missed several calls against Jersey in this game and the Neidermeyer penalty should have been a major.

Also, we found out that our discipline is excellent. That's a nice asset to have come playoff time.

Yes there were even more NJ penalties that could have been called in the last 5 minutes. No that was NOT a goal by Zednik... obvious bias dude.

The Devils had been tripping players all period without getting called, so the penalty the second ref called was more than due, I still don't understand why the idiot behind the net didn't call it.

The Ribs hit was also a penalty. If not for the stick to the face, then at the very least Neidermeyer deserved it for the interference on Ribs who wasn't even close to the puck...

Both penalties were good calls. The Devils can whine all they want about it; it changes nothing.

Ref Calls

It's funny how things change in the NHL, on one hand you hear Jeremy Roenick crying about the referees job and when they do their job, and yes they did it yesterday, Martin Brodeur and Pat Burns are not happy with that. I'm sick and tired about players arguing about referees, if they call all penaltys like they did at the end of the game, nobody would be arguing. MBrodeur and Burns told the media to let the players play at the end of the game. Well do you see referees letting the players play at the end of a football game? No, why? Because they call every fault on a play like they should do in hockey.

We have to be careful. What if Kerry Fraser calls, asking for more money? We could be in big trouble if he decides to blow the whistle on us.
