If you look around the league you'll see a lot of former Habs in coaching and Management positions. RDS did a spot on how many former habs were involved in this game alone. Do you think there are players on the current roster you could see in GM and coaching positions?

It's hard to look in the crystal ball, but I think most people would have predicted Carbo, Muller, Gainey, Lemaire, Risebrough getting involved in Management.
So among our leaders:
I could see Koivu doing it but not for many years. I think he'll opt to move back to Finland to raise his family when the time comes.
Kovalev.... Head coach maybe, but probably in Russia.
Higgins.. Definitely a future GM
Komi... Probably working for Higgins
Former Hab, and one of my faves, Craig Rivet is pretty much a lock to stick around the game forever. As for current Habs I could see Koivu coming back to work for the Habs after he's done on the ice.
Josh Gorges seems well spoken, intelligent, a hard-worker and passionate about the game. Don't think I see him as a Head Coach or GM, but certainly involved in the game in some capacity.

I was going to say Gorges as well, he impresses me with the way he handles himself. Hamrlik opened some eyes last year with his mic'ed game in terms of how he communicates, so if that's the norm.....
I see Koivu involved in the sports world, but more from an administrative position than behind a bench. Things can change when a player misses the competition but I can't see him liking the bagage that comes with coaching, esp. when you don't need the $. Every generation of player needs it less.
For some reason, I see Plekanec as a guy who will always be around the game. I think he has a bit in common with Carbo for some reason.
I don't know if Brisebois will stay in hockey, I'm not sure where he'd fit in or what he'd contribute, I have no idea what kind of communicator he is.
I think Begin and TK will be in the hockey world as long as they can find jobs.
Tom Kostopolus certainly knows what kind of effort is required to play at high levels (motivation), is a great team mate (chemistry), and has shown some nice smarts (brains). Three traits needed to be a good coach.

I was gonna say Tom K. as well, but, what are the chances of BGL taking over for Colin Campbell as league disciplinarian when he gives up playing? Maybe the thought of meeting with him behind closed doors would make players think a little harder about their actions.

I bet Brisebois would be a fantastic coach, or at least a trainer. Think about it: Trainers don't teach guys how to do their mistakes, only what they do well. Brisebois coaching/mentoring PK Subban for his offensive abilities? I'd take it.
However, one could consider Gottselig to be Canadian since he arrived in the country at an early age and I would say that he considered himself to be Canadian as well.
In general, the vast majority of NHL coaches were born and raised in Canada. Again, all of the outstanding ones are from Canada.
Its an evolution... until the late 70s/early 80s there were no europeans in the nhl... in the late 80s the russians came over... today we have more europeans than ever...
There was a time when there were no european captains... now we've seen a euro captain win the cup.
As this wave of europeans retire I'm sure some will move into coaching and management positions in the NHL... and one day a euro coach will win the cup.

I meant the main coach...Kirk is work... I hope that's not too heavy, but he has what it takes, a few french lessons this is the guy, classic old fedora & he cares & was the captain of this team, not bad for a guy from Kingston...this is his home..I belive he can handle it. in fact I know he can handle it...
