Van-Stl: Because we all need another Canucks proposal

To St. Louis: Kevin Bieksa

To Van: Andy MacDonald

St. Louis partially fills their gaping hole left by Erik Johnson and the Canucks get a playmaker to light it up with Demo and Raymond.

Seems pretty even to me. Thoughts?

Awful. The absolute last thing we need is a playmaker, and Bieksa has been our best defensemen this last little while.

No tanks coach.

Canucks aren't as deep as they used to be defensively.

Any MacDonald is playing very well, but I would not like the Nucks to trade Bieksa at this stage. Right now we are not hurting for offense, but we are struggling somewhat defensively. Bieksa has arguably been our best defender this year, and leads the D in scoring.

No way if I were the Blues I'd pull the trigger on this one. MacDonald is a key part to what the Blues are trying to accomplish.

If we need another forward, it's a winger, not a playmaking center. We have two playmaking centers already, with another on the injured reserve.

I've never been a huge Bieksa fan, but he's showing signs of returning to the form he showed in his breakout year. And even though it's early, offense has not been our problem.

If I was going to trade Bieksa today, I would ideally try to wrap him into an upgrade on defense. Get a true powerplay quarterback. Sadly, like power forwards, those can be hard to come by.

Blues say hell no. We are happy with our D and Andy Mac has looked very good for us this year. We'll keep him thanks.

Value is probably close, but I think both teams say no. Vancouver definitely does. Needs are not addressed and Bieksa is a huge part of the defense.

Pavol Demitra is not a center, and Kyle Wellwood does not play defense. A center is exactly what we need IMHO, although I definitely agree that we need a goal scorer more than a playmaker.

not worth trading bieksa for mcdonald.

bieksa means more to the canucks then mcdonald would.

this would be a panic move by gillis

This is the kind of move that bites you in the butt in a few seasons. Bieksa will hit his prime in the next 3-4 years, and looks to be returning to top-pairing form.

No from both sides...Bieska is a monster on the back end for Vancouver and MacDonald has been setting Boyes and Tkachuk up left and right.

I would do it as a Canucks fan. MacDonald can score too, and he would look great with Raymond and Demitra. MacDonald is just racking up the assists because he is playing with a pure sniper in Boyes. I'd hate to lose Bieksa especially with how he has been playing this season but you have to give to get.

Exactly, both teams are probably worse off after this trade.

Bieksa has 2 more years left on a very good valued deal and has been the Canucks #1 D-man for the last several games.

Andy Mac is a UFA at the end of the year, and is an undersized playmaker which we certainly do not need.

No from a Canucks standpoint, MacDonald is not what we need (we need a scorer) and he's a pending UFA. Bieksa has been great so far this season, I don't see any reason to trade him at this moment.

I wouldn't trade Bieksa unless the other player coming back is a forward that can match his ferocity. Andy MacDonald is not even close. Bad trade.

Bieksa owns our defense right now. 2 goals 8 points in 10 games...

He's back to his 25+ min a night form and he's putting up offensive numbers at a better rate than when he first broke out. I was one of those skeptical fans after one great season and then a subpar one. But he's showing the signs of being a great two-way, gritty, defensemen who scares the **** of opposing forwards and puts pucks in the other net.

Not a good trade for the Canucks and doubt that St Louis would want to do that trade either. Might leave a big hole on the D for the Canucks and at center for the Blues. So I'll say no to that trade.
