49 games in the NHL and he's a bust? Could it be that he could flourish in another system?
People are way too quick to judge.
1. His point totals in the AHL were declining year to year.
2. He was drafted 4 years ago. The Blue Jackets have had lots of time to evaluate him and Picard has had plenty of time to prove his worth.
3. You can play 0 games in the NHL and be a bust. In fact, they're closely related. He didn't deserve to play that much, even.
4. Usually you think of busts in the eyes of the team drafting him.
In light of the John Mitchell (and possible Antropov) injury tonight, the Maple Leafs may have a few open spots and I wouldn't mind them taking a look at this guy to fill one. If Mitchell gets placed on the IR, it gives the Leafs basically a 10 game trial to see what Picard can bring. If he's worth keeping around the Leafs could probably have enough time to move a defenceman to make room for the return of mitchell. If he's not worth keeping around we put him back on waivers and if not picked up, he gets some needed AHL time.

haha, Doug Maclean wasnt the best drafter, or best anything. in Fact he was the worst everything. Good thing Nash is good, and Pazzy, Klesla have been solid. But the real deal is now with Brassard and Voracek. so we are about 50/50 with the clubs 1st round picks.
So does this mean I should pick up Dorsett for my pool again, or that CBJ is going to carry 3 G's when Leclaire returns?
I personally think they'll recall Dorsett. I can't see them carrying 3 goalies. They'll send Mason back to the AHL once Leclaire is ready or trade/waive Norrena.
According to nhlnumbers Picard is a 787k cap hit for this season and RFA next season.
I guess some team might be willing to take a small risk and grab him to see how he fits in. Should be a nice addition to the fourth line of loads of teams and still has some upside.
