So does this mean I should pick up Dorsett for my pool again, or that CBJ is going to carry 3 G's when Leclaire returns?

49 games in the NHL and he's a bust? Could it be that he could flourish in another system?

People are way too quick to judge.

1. His point totals in the AHL were declining year to year.
2. He was drafted 4 years ago. The Blue Jackets have had lots of time to evaluate him and Picard has had plenty of time to prove his worth.
3. You can play 0 games in the NHL and be a bust. In fact, they're closely related. He didn't deserve to play that much, even.
4. Usually you think of busts in the eyes of the team drafting him.

He's making over a million dollars this year, I highly doubt he'll be claimed.

In light of the John Mitchell (and possible Antropov) injury tonight, the Maple Leafs may have a few open spots and I wouldn't mind them taking a look at this guy to fill one. If Mitchell gets placed on the IR, it gives the Leafs basically a 10 game trial to see what Picard can bring. If he's worth keeping around the Leafs could probably have enough time to move a defenceman to make room for the return of mitchell. If he's not worth keeping around we put him back on waivers and if not picked up, he gets some needed AHL time.

we might be able to use him in Hamilton....lol

kiddings aside too bad his stock has fallen so much since his draft year

assuming his name is spelled exactly the same way as the sen's Picard....what would they have to enter as their jersey names? their nickname? Cbj Picard & Ott Picard?

They would differentiate with their numbers.

Its why having a bunch of kids with potential doesn't mean much if they don't meet that potential.

haha, Doug Maclean wasnt the best drafter, or best anything. in Fact he was the worst everything. Good thing Nash is good, and Pazzy, Klesla have been solid. But the real deal is now with Brassard and Voracek. so we are about 50/50 with the clubs 1st round picks.

In only 10 of his 49 career games has he eclipsed the 10 minute mark.

I don't know if you could say that he has even been given a chance.

Mind you, I don't know anything about him.... is his skating as bad as some suggest?

I personally think they'll recall Dorsett. I can't see them carrying 3 goalies. They'll send Mason back to the AHL once Leclaire is ready or trade/waive Norrena.

According to nhlnumbers Picard is a 787k cap hit for this season and RFA next season.

I guess some team might be willing to take a small risk and grab him to see how he fits in. Should be a nice addition to the fourth line of loads of teams and still has some upside.

I always liked him in the juniors. I knew he wasn't going to be a superstar but I'm surprised to see him on waivers now.

I can't see how his stock has fallen that much.

IMO, Gainey should claim him to be our 14th forward and place Dandenault on waivers like he was supposed to do this summer.

Nothing against Dandy who is playing fine this year. The problem is that he earns 1M$ more than what he brings to the team.

That would require him scoring a point and doubling his career tally honestly the guy makes Andrew Peters look like a scoring machine. If he wasn't a former #8 overall no one would consider picking him up.

I can't see him NOT being claimed.

Look at what Edmonton gave up for Brule. Picard was drafted just one year prior, two spots later.

He's a solid reclaimation project (maybe Edmonton themselves take a shot at him).

Torres was a Salary and roster spot dump. I see what you're saying. I don't how the Leafs don't take a shot, they are so shallow up front.

Picard cleared per the Columbus Dispatch blog.

Quote:
Blue Jackets left winger Alexandre Picard has cleared waivers, The Dispatch has learned. Picard will stay with the club at least through today.
