Game 14: Flames @ Blue Jackets - 5:00 PM MT - CBC/FAN960

8-5-1, 17 POINTS

@

6-6-2, 14 POINTS

@ NATIONWIDE ARENA

NHL PREVIEW:

Quote:

Calgary (8-5-1) enters this contest after avoiding its third consecutive loss by holding on for a 7-6 home win over Nashville on Thursday. Jarome Iginla had two goals and two assists, Craig Conroy added two goals with an assist and Todd Bertuzzi recorded three assists.
Quote:

"For most of the game, it was a pretty good game until the final few minutes when we actually had the power-plays and we lost momentum there, they went bang-bang, a couple nice goals on a couple breakdowns by us," said Iginla, who has eight goals and 10 assists this season.
Quote:

Miikka Kiprusoff made 23 saves against the Predators, but could be rested for the first time this season in this game or Sunday at Chicago. Kiprusoff is 8-5-1 with a 3.14 GAA this season, but 8-4-2 with one tie and a 2.23 GAA versus Columbus.

Analysis:

Hopefully, with McElhinney starting, the Flames defense pays a little more attention to detail and help their goaltender out. I'm thinking Curtis has been waiting for this for a long time and I expect to see a solid performance by him. Our forwards were great last game so let's hope that continues. They key to winning this game is to get the lead early, then clamp down, not let the opposition back into the game. And please, no more 5-0 leads, they're the most dangerous kind of lead in hockey.

Pretty sure you can.

Sounds like McElhinney is starting. It is about time. Hopefully he has a good game and the team in front of him gives him some support. Jackets are coming off a big win against the habs last night so the flames need to get on them early.

Go Flames Go

3-2 Flames. McElhinney will play a great game, Huselius will get a goal and an assist. Iginla will score twice, Glencross with one.

What a brutal period. Team has yet to show up. Just no emotion or really much of anything. PP is an absolute joke. Iginla, Bertuzzi, Phaneuf all need to wake up. What the hell was Bourque doing? Pretty dissapointed in the team after that first period.

PP coming up

I like the Bob Cole/Greg Millen duo alot better than Lee/Crawford

still wish Chris Cuthbert was still on CBC, will never forget his call of Gelinas' goal against the Canucks in '04

Another pretty bad period. No flow at all. Defence struggling with the first pass out of the zone. A lot of standing around by the forwards as well. Team has to get it going in the third period. What a dissapointing game so far.

Bad turnover by Sarich, Malhotra snipes top corner, not much chance for McEl.
