Atl - Van

This is a deadline trade if anything. and if the canucks are on a downslide and in no way going to make the playoffs.

To Van
Erik Christensen
Garnet Exelby
1st Round pick
2nd round pick

D.Sedin
H.Sedin
M.Grabner/T.Pyatt
Conditional pick (if the Sedin Twins sign they retain their 2nd)

Why ATL does this? They get some offensive threat to play with Kolvalchuk.
Why VAN does this? They get a young center in Erik Christensen who can play on the second line./

Anyways just thought of this. Your thoughts?

even if the canucks are not going to make the playoffs, I think we can get better deals out there.... .and that's a wild assumption to begin with as well.

they are currently leading their division (although the wild have 2 games in hand), and are doing it without 2 of their top 9 forwards as well. Meanwhile the thrashers are 2 games below .500 this season!

Chances are better that the canucks sign Sundin this year, then for them to miss the playoffs, while the thrashers get in... I'd be willing to bet that at deadline time, the canucks have a better chance to make the playoffs than the thrashers do.

Atlanta won't make the playoffs. Sorry. Better keep that first round pick.

There is no way VAN would make that trade.

ATL would do that unless they thought they were getting Tavares or Hedman.

.... for a month and a half. I would think teams in a playoff hunt/contenders would be sniffing around the children of the corn before Atlanta ever would. Especially without the guarantee of having them under contract. ATL will likely have a top 5 pick in this draft, a guaranteed special player.

I never understand why a poster uses this justification of a trade:

Team A gets a young solid blah-blah to play on their 2nd line, while only giving up their older more proven blah-blah who plays on their 1st line.

It's like me giving you a fifty dollar bill for a twenty, because I might need the twenty to make change at some later time.

A trade in which Vancouver sends the Sedins to ATL and does not get Kovalchuk back would have to involve Little imo.

Sedin + Sedin (both signed for 5.5 million for 4 years) for Little and a 1st

conditional on Atlanta sucking this year and garnering a top 5 pick

Rather than laugh, even though a scenario that would make either team do this trade is very unlikely, remember that ATLANTA is giving the Canucks their first round pick. This means a lottery pick barring something unforseen. However, if it is a lottery pick, this trade scenario would never be proposed.

How does this help Atlanta? Do they get the best talent, yes, but they are not making the playoffs, so why would they give up a lottery pick in what should be a solid draft for a pair of UFAs? Think about this...you have the team that is leading their division trading UFAs to a team that is currently in 12th in their conference.

Its just a situation if the Nucks are tanking. Atlanta gives Kolvalchuk a reason to stay and gives more chance of survival for their franchise aswell. And if its a lottery pick i added a top prospect in Mgrabner to even it. Just posted it here to get some thought on it.

if the Canucks are tanking dealing to first liners for a questionable 2nd liner makes no sense for them. It would make more sense dealing them for Little and Atlanta's 1st if Atlanta's pick is a top 5 pick.
