New York Rangers / Edmonton Oilers

I don't do proposals often, but there was one on the Rangers board of Schremp for Anisimov (which all Rangers fans, except the proposer, said hell no to).

I propose this:

To Edmonton: Nigel Dawes

To New York: Rob Schremp, 6th round pick in 2009

Well, this is my take. I actually don't mind how Dawes has played. He's just been snake bitten. He's had a TON of chances and just hasn't buried them yet. I mean, it will come and I fully expect 15-20 goals this year from him.

He's a notoriously slow starter (has been that way since his junior days), also.

As bad of a reputation i have, i was thinking about Dawes for Pouliot the other day.
I like Dawes, every1 thought it would be his breakout year this year but he's had trouble getting in the line-up. Once Glencross left I thought Dawes could easily replace him. But yes I would take this deal if we replace Schremp for MAP and JFJ, no pick

Zero interest in Pouliot. We won't move a goalscorer like Dawes for a plug like Pouliot. The only reason I'd consider trading Dawes is because we already have a few smaller goalscorers on the team and I'd like to add a bit more offensive creativity even if we have to suffer a bit of lost goalscoring.

JFJ would have no spot on the team and Pouliot adds nothing.

No thanks from a NYR POV. Dawes is just snakebitten. If anything do Prucha/Fritsche for Schremp IMO. maybe add a pick from NYR.

I don't see what either does for Edmonton. You do need to offer up quality and both of those guys are worth late round picks at best right now. I value Dawes around a 2nd or so rounder and Schremp a little below that. I just think that Dawes is a bit of a redundancy.

Though if Edmonton wants him, they can have Prucha for free. 7th round pick at the most.

I guess so. But I don't really see any value in Schremp. I'd much rather have Dawes than Schremp, and a 6th.

I don't know why the Rangers would trade Dawes. The kid has speed and skill and Schremp hasn't really proven himself. I see the Oilers winning this deal.

Why are you so neg on Rob Schremp? The kid has ooddles of talent and creativity with the puck and the Rangers have Tom Renny. I think its an exciting proposition.

The Oilers definitely win it short term. Thing is, I just see Dawes as redundant in our organization. He's a solid young player, for sure, though.

Oilers don't need Dawes on their roster right now, nor is their space for him.

If Schremp gets traded, I think it'll be for another top prospect

Dawes, Fritsche, Prucha would sit in the PB on the Oilers. Too many similar players already. We need a 3rd line center (our face-offs suck) or a skilled young banger like Korpikoski (our forecheckers/bottom-6 lack speed)

I don't think so

Oilers shouldn't be looking at more prospects. A bottom-6 reliable vet forward for Schremp would be great.

I can understand if you have no room for Dawes, it's just that I think you can get more for him than Schremp. I would give Dawes some more time before you make any decisions on him.

If you want Korpedo, you'll be giving up a lot more than Schremp.

That I understand... I wouldn't definitely would propose something different. Schremp is probably going to get a 3rd center UFA rental - not a young player back.

Me neither, I really like Dawes but we have enough players like him in Cogs and Nilsson.

I'd be lying if I said I knew anything about Dawes beyond what his stats say.

Any Ranger fan want to give a brief description of the type of player, skill set, ect...?

very skilled player who is smaller in stature but he is very sturdy and built like a rock....he has a very quick release and only played about 50 or so games last season and he looked very very good.....the reason he wasnt in the nhl prior to that was because of his defensive game which has come a very very long way to the point where he is actually pretty decent in his own end.....he has scored at every level he has ever played at and is a very well-rounded offensive player, meaning he can score and set-up his linemates as well.....he has gotten off to a slow start but IMO he can be a 25 goal scorer in this league and has some serious offensive skill

Should be a 20/25 goal scoring, 2nd line player in his prime.

He's very defensively responsible (surprisingly so, actually).

Finishes every check and is not afraid of contact at all.

He's really a great kid.

I just don't see a good mix here from the oilers Standpoint. The proposed deal is a lateral move at best.

The Ranger's have a lot of the same sorts of players that the oilers have and so neither needs what the other has.
