Yup, there's holes. And either people need to step up, or moves have to made.
There's no more reason to be pollyanna about this team than there is to think they're not going anywhere... Brooks has been harping on the negative since before Prague..
The problem is that the moves that need to be made are hard to do becuase of the cap. Rozsival's $5m could be used for a "move", but he is taking up the space. And if Redden's play does not significantly improve, that will be $11m that is being taken up.
It seems like we have been talking about this for years. One need not intimidate to have an "eye for an eye" mentality. That is more of a deterent than anything else. Want to run Henke? Fine, have Orr ram Ovechkin or Semin.
See this is where Colton needs to step outside of the boys club of fighter role player and bust up Semin a little bit.
Its frowned upon, but necessary. You cant let guys run Lundqvist. You just can't let teams think they can get away with it.
Someone should have made Semin pay. If not big bad Colton Orr than someone else. Someone.
If Shanahan was the captain of this team, there would have been retribution. Shanny doesnt fit the 09 Rangers in many ways, but his meanstreak and leadership would be appreciated on nights like last Saturday
you actually think orr could catch semin? i know colton has improved but semin is a million, if not more, time better of a skater. only way orr could hit him is if semin had his head down, which he's not regularly guilty of doing.
Absolutely agree with Levitate...Avery is not an intimidating figure... Annoying as f#$k? Yes. But not at all intimidating.
If the Rangers were getting bullied and run out of their own building nightly, I'd say we'd have to address the "toughness" issue, but they're not. They simply haven't been putting in a solid 60 each night. We've seen what they can do when they show up ready for work.
