i agree. i haven't watched a game in a while, but i've seen snippets of comments from the gdt. like i said, i'll wait 15-20 games before i make any real judgements.
I think no one can tame Downie. When he does things, they're stupid..impulsive things.
He's done a few intentionally but those weren't bad or anything really. THe Mcammond hit I still say was a rookie trying to lay a big hit to make the team. But he ended up leaving his feet sooo it was no good.
I still like Downie and his playmaking skills are HIGHLY underrated.
imo, downie was the centerpiece of the trade for the lightning. although ultimately they were able to reduce payroll, at this point in time eminger and carle are somewhat of a wash talent-wise (although i truly believe that carle has a much higher upside, and probably will achieve it in the next 3-4 years.)
i think the lightning really liek downie, and roberts is a one-year mentor to stamkos. i would expect downie to play very limitedly this year in the nhl, and replace roberts next year.
