He was in the right spot when he scored from the side of the net. He reads plays well and knows when to attack and when to fall back on defense.

And he seems to enjoy scoring goals — which is always good to see.

Got to say, I have to take back a lot of my criticisms against the Rangers broadcasts. Those Devils announcers are horrible homers. Yes, they admitted that Parise got away with one...but then later cried like little babies about calls that went against them...most of which were certainly reasonable. I could go on and on about how terrible they were, but I won't waste the bandwidth. BRUTAL is all I can say. Absolutely pathetic. Really makes the game painful to watch with sound on.

Yeah I'm not surprised by his smarts on offense, but his ability and willingness to play defense has been a great, and much needed surprise.

Decent game....I was not happy with the first period effort, and think that if we could just come out strong in the first period, and play strong the rest of the game, we can defintely go deep in the playoffs this year.

5-2 not a great win, but against a depleted devils we should expect a score like this. Just wish they would pot 5 goals a night on average.

Love the Dubi pulling the sweater over Zubrus' head. Made me laugh.

The game did make Gomez look expendable though, hopefully he sits out against the B's and we can see what the Rags can do against a better team than the Debbies without Gomez in the lineup. (not knocking Gomer, just want to see how we fare without our #1 center)

One last thing - this GDT is filled with comments about Chico and Emmerick, its way out of hand, immature and very telling of some of the fans we have around here. They take more delight in trashing the other team and their announcers then actually paying attention to the details of the game. I assume its just immaturity, but guys, if you dont like what you're hearing, spare everyone and mute your tv, put on the radio feed or listen to music.

It did? The Rangers beat a team that didn't have their #1, their best defensemen and two of their top three centers.

Ok, and he said LOOK expendable and went on to say how he would like to see how we'd fare against a better team without him. Cool it, no?

Cool what? I fail to see how a #1 center is expendable.

It shouldnt be a shock to anyone that a team can win w/o one of its best players in the lineup for one game. Happens all the time, its called rallying around the adversity. Now try and see where playing a dozen games w/o Gomez gets us, that'd be a totally different story.

It was just a comment and he in no way said "zomg Gomez is expendable; trade him now". I can't believe how much fans of the same team like to jump on eachother on the internet. I never experience this in real life, even starting conversations with strangers at the Garden, even when we end up disagreeing on something, but on the internet; say one thing a fellow Rangers fan doesn't agree with and you might as well be a Flyers or Devils fan. I mean, he said "(not knocking Gomer, just want to see how we fare without our #1 center)". It's not like he's looking to get rid of the guy.

Yeah you're right, you probably talk to the fans at the game that yell 'shoooot' and 'skaaaate'.

If you make a comment like 'Gomez could be expendable cause we won a game w/o him' expect people who know what their talking about to question that statement.

He didn't say "Gomez could be expendable". He said it made Gomez look expendable, he'd like to see how we'd do against a better team without him, and acknowledged that Gomez is our #1 center. You're now making judgements on me and who I may or may not converse with at Rangers games?

All that I said was why jump on the guy for a simple observation, which in turn is getting me jumped on? The guy never said Gomez is expendable, nor that he should be traded, nor that we don't need him. What's the problem around here? Even if it was a foolish comment, how is it worth getting your panties in a twist about it?

Considering the guy's signature is "Trade Gomez!", I think it's hard to assume the guy's agenda is anything other than to make Gomez look expendable.

And he called us Rags, what is with these 'fans' who call our own team Rags!?

I don't know where Drury has been all season, but I'm glad he's here now!

Meh, I stopped reading the signatures in this thread because they show up so many times throughout 35 pages so I didn't notice that. Whatever his agenda may be, I just find it discouraging that, being new to a place, the fans of the same team argue with eachother more than with fans of other teams. I'm certainly not trying to start anything and it's not MY opinion that Gomez is, or looks, expendable, but coming from being a moderator at the Buffalo Sabres official forums (where it was common knowledge that I was a Rangers fan first and Sabres fan second!) I'm so tired of seeing fans of the same team fight with eachother that I just thought it looked like someone being reprimanded unnecessarily for making a simple comment about the one game. I see so many arguments between fans of the same team where people seem to forget they're on the same side and I wonder why we can't all just get along as Rangers fans.

Sorry if I unwittingly stirred the pot.

All season? You mean 10 games before he started scoring?

The Rags? This is supposed to be your team, no?

Over the course of a season, you dont fare well w/o your #1 Center.

He's not going anywhere, get used to it and stop beating the dead pony.

s.

I was happy for Fritz, he finally made a difference and he was noticeable during the game, noticeable on the same level as Prucha is when he plays. Prucha just never had the assists but hustles like that every game.

I actually felt bad for Weekes because he is a class act and an awesome Ranger, I wanted the win for sure but I didn't need for him to let in a couple of goals he really wished he had back.

Good game!

did'nt watch the game but yea to Dawes, Korpikoski ,Fritsche

way to chip in with Gomez out

speaking of that how long is he out for?

This is why it's good to have depth. It will pay off at the end of the year when a team out of it is looking to grab some young players for a proven scoring Winger.......I think that should be the plan because they are obviously good enough to get into the playoffs.........this team just needs one more scoring winger and it's pretty damn solid

Please don't advocate trading Gomez just because we cashed in on two 5 on 3's and beat up a Devils roster that had at least 7 AHL'ers.

I fail to see how SBOB "jumped on" anyone with that comment. He countered the opinion originally posed by MikeyG with an opinion of his own, which to me constitutes textbook usage of a message board. I'd also say that the "jumping on" began with your "cool it" comment, which didn't make much sense given the context and is an interesting tact to take against one of the more respected posters on this board.

Anyway, I was at the game last night. I love taking that building over, it just feels so great. The first period was awful (and boring, by the way), but as usual the boys woke up in primetime. Hopefully the PP, which has been showing signs of life, can keep up the good pace and the Rangers can get on another nice little winning streak going.
