Los Angeles received:

It's hard to say because they were so many moving parts, but I wouldn't give Benn up for anything.
I think the Kings are pretty happy with Moller and Teubert, so if you guys are happy I guess it's a good trade for both teams.

What's your definition of trying to lose? Because Dallas won't be trying to lose, but improve it's team going forward by selling everyone it can at the trade deadline.

If Parrish, Sydor, Robidas, Barch, Zubov, Lehtinen, Avery, Ott, Peterson and Modano are put on the market is that really tanking?

I doubt Modano will be moved. I wonder if Zubov or Lehtinen would waive their NTC. I really hope and pray they can move Avery, but who knows with that contract. Regardless moving some or most of those players for picks and prospects (younger AHL/NHL ready guys) would be a good thing for this organization if Dallas can't turn it around soon and is out of the playoffs.

Ott, Robidas, and Parrish will probably have pretty good value at the trade deadline. Zubov would bring back the most. Peterson might net a 7th rounder for a team looking for a good pk'er. The rest depend on how many buyers vs. sellers there are in March. I just hope we can trun things around but some moves are going to have to be made for the good of this franchise going forward.

Would you disagree with that?

If Modano isn't traded, and I really hope he isn't, does anyone actually believe he'll come back for another year now?

I bet Dallas has $3.5 million in dead space for 2009-10.

yeah I definetly agree that would be for the good of the franchise, I just can't support a team that gives up on a season. I guess I'd still be cheering for the team to win as often as possible, but I wouldn't watch / attend any of the games.

If they were to go that route and trade away every single veteran player they have then I would be back game 1 of the pre-season next year even if their lineup resembled what the Islanders put out every night.

I really, really hope this thread title doesn't become more relevant as the season goes on.

Although if it eventually becomes clear that the Stars aren't playoff bound, I suppose it's all or nothing in terms of lottery seeding.

Dallas' 1st round pick just got a whole lot more valuable!

I swear if that pick gets traded, I'll lose what faith I have left in Jack Hullson.

This a big hypothetical because I'm bored and would like to test my ability to predict the future.

If, BIG IF, Dallas is out of the running for the playoffs and veterans are traded;

1) Modano goes to Columbus - 0.1% chance of getting traded
2) Zubov goes to Montreal - 35% chance
3) Lehtinen goes to Pittsburgh - 15% chance
4) Parrish goes to Anaheim - 90% chance

Why would Modano go to Columbus, of all places?

Luv it man. That's why I can't stand that shameless team with the flightless bird on thier chest. They could never lose enough to make me happy...huh...wait... I hope the y lose just enough to finish in the last 15 spots but not the top 3.

I see some "injuries" this year that will put them on schedule for Buttman to award them Hedman or Tavares.

One thing that Tavares has going for him is that we could just give him his usual #91, throw Richards in a closet somewhere, and reap the improved center play.
