Detroit has acquired centre Robert Lang from the Washington Capitals for Tomas Fleischmann, a first round pick in 2004 and a fourth round pick in 2006.

Not a bad return.

Fleischmann is another WHL player, geez George, there ARE other leagues...

When has Detroit had any luck with their 1st rounders anyways??

They'll find someone in the 8th rd.

That is a suprisingly large return for Lang. Bondra looks like a steal compared to that:
1st vs 2nd
4th and Fleischmann(2nd round pick) vs Laich (6th round pick)

Stolen by Holland. Grand deal for the Wings. I reckon them back by the tops. Shameful deal by the Caps. Maybe it is all that were offered but getting what they did were rubbish.

Fleischmann i believe i read wasnt improving as much as they wanted. Ya just saw at HF boards hes down to 6 on the wings Prospect Depth. He was higher than that. Hes more of a throw in, a b-c prospect.

the trade is for the Picks. I wonder if Washington Eats Salary. Detroit made out pretty good. Theonly issue i have is they didnt trade a current body. So that means ANOTHER player sits, or they will dump another for picks.

Good deal for Detroit. They have recently been great at mining for gold in the later rounds, and they added another impact player without losing a roster spot.

Not a bad deal for Washington, especially if you consider that they didn't give up anything to get Lang 140 games ago.

Makes the scoring race much more exciting! Thought that St. Louis was going to walk away with it, but Lang's got a much chance now!

The best part of the deal is they acquired Lang without giving up Hudler. With Hatcher due to return soon, they'll basically be adding a top 4 d-man for nothing as well. They may have given up another young gun and a 1st rounder, but this recipe has worked for them in the past...

Fleischmann appears to be an exact duplicate of Alex Semin...

Three years away though, yeesh, I wonder if Crosby or Brule like swamp weather.

Wow, that's a lot going to Washignton. Do Wings really need Lang that bad? Its not like their offence isnt up there ...

There goes my hopes of Detroit trading for grit, which is something they ACTUALLY NEED.

I know, I know, but it's just the fact that they were starting to draft some better players in the 1st (Fischer and Kronwall). The team can't rebuild from nothing all the time, they're eventually run out of any decent prospects.

Off topic, but I disagree. I expect Lang to fall out of contention now. His ice-time will decrease quite a bit and he won't be seeing #1 power-play time (not that their 2nd unit is anything to laugh at)...

its not a lot. id be shocked if Fleischmann amounts to much more than a 3rd\4th liner. The Picks, obviously its what you do with them, but that first rounder is Late.

The wings 5 on 5 has been TERRIBLE over the past few weeks. yes they needed a Foward. And they needed somebody to take datsyuk off the top line so hes nto going against the Top Defense every time. Hes getting blanketed out there because teams know you shut him down youve shut Detroit's 5 on 5 down.
