LOL, I missed the first half of this game and I just saw the replay of Chara manhandling Colin Fraser and then knocking him down... " Down goes Fraser, down goes Fraser! "

I'd like Wheels to teach Z that shootout move that he scored on. Chara would be unstoppable with his wingspan.

Beleive it or not, I knew he was going to score. There had to be a reason he was out there over Savard, Bergy, Ryder etc. Must have been something he was practicing. Or, he was just going to put the puck in his mouth and go in head first.

I'll say it again, and likely this will be my last post here on the Bruins board until the Hawks play the Bruins again.

Your trap... amazing... the Hawks couldn't penatrate at all. The trap is one thing to use to be annoying... but the Bruins have perfected it to be incredibly frustrating for me to watch. Kudos to the Bruins for basically making the Blackhawks offense look like defense for most of the game (excluding bogus penalties on both sides of the puck).

The Bruins really impressed me (Chara should not be allowed to be in the NHL... what a beast)... not only did they match the speed of my Hawks, which I consider to be a strong suit. They also matched the PK and PP pressure that I consider to be "fun hockey" to watch.

The shootout? Don't get me started... the Hawks have been BRUTAL in the SO... Axelsson (SWEDE ) destroyed the Bulin Wall. I have no idea why Havlat/Sharp weren't the last shooter?

Oh well... I'm a drunk Finn... and you Bruins opened my eyes... gonna catch you some more on the streams!

Kirk - agreed on your point in the other thread: I have always loved those red Blackhawks jerseys. Not a big fan of their black 3rd jerseys though.

Everyone notice the glove in the face ritual the Bruins have been doin' this year. In fact, loved seeing Manny in the middle of it with a big smile. Ward mentioned the closeness of this team on 'EEI today as the #1 reason for the teams success so far this year.

Though a bit of a long shot, how great would a Bruins vs. Blackhawks final be?

You know what is great about this game?

Two teams who once were the class of the league (think those Milbury-Keenan coached B's-'Hawks squads of the late 80's/early 90's) but fell on severe mediocrity, are back to being respectable.

I've always loved those red indianhead sweaters, and seeing the speed and skill both teams brought tonight (despite a couple of referees' best attempts to ruin the flow of the game with too many self-important, ticky-tack calls) is a real tribute to once-proud franchises finding their way back.
I had to copy this from the other thread, as I tried to reply to Kirk's post and it wouldn't let me due to the thread being closed.

I love the Blackhawks, another favorite team from the 70's. I can remember the fun of watching Phil trying to score a goal against his brother Tony. The crowd was so into the games you couldn't hear yourself think. I love that organ, too. Classic.

I agree with your Kirk- those uniforms just rock- I hope they never change them, as that is one of my favorites of all time along with the Spoked B.

The game could have been much better had the officials not dictated the pace with a bunch of penalties. Less calls in the 2nd half led to some good end to end action. Still a great game though.

Nice to see the B's finally get a SO win. Who knew Axelsson had it in him!

The Bruins had a lot of great scoring chances, way more than the Hawks - but 'Bulin was amazing. That was the difference. Thomas was good, too, but 'Bulin came up real big. Two fast, skilled, young teams going head-to-head, and we outplayed them overall imo.

Way to go Bruins!

I like Duncan Keith a lot, but did anybody else think that he made waaaayy too many ill-advised passes in his own end? (and he did it consistently, not just once or twice) He looked like Wideman used to under Lewis before Ramsey and CJ got ahold of him.

CHI has a lot of young talent. Thought Versteeg looked good at times, but I will take Krejci over him. (yeah I know, the B's should have had them both still) Was suprised at how well Barker handled the puck, despite his size. I know it was only one game, but Dustin B-Fug did absolutely nothing for me, thought Brouwer looked much better throughout the night?

Agreed. Their jerseys are awesome and I really like the Blackhawks. Obviously not as much as the B's, but more than any team not name Boston.

I'm actually trying to get a Toews Reebok shirt. I'm trying to start a collection of various teams - I already have my Bergeron shirt.

I thought the game was fairly even and a lot of that was due to nearly endless powerplays for both teams. boston had the better scoring chances and i credit that to claude juliens system because our defense is stifling even without a ton of talent back there. they have a deeper defensive core but they dont have the system in place and they gave up some really good scoring chances that bulin made great saves and the post reared its ugly head a few times

I think the Bruins proved tonight that they can hold their own with the best teams in the NHL. I think people expected Chicago to be a head better than us, and I think we matched them blow for blow.

How can we not be excited here?

I AM excited here, but I had NO thought that the HAWKs were "better than us". From the drop of the puck, I thought the B's were faster, smarter, better coached. To me, it was a "matter of time" victory. . .

Too bad it took long enough for Chicago to get a point.

My favorite "Blackhawk Down" moment was a couple years ago, when Brad Stuart absolutely dropped Peter Bondra with a mammoth hit and Jack Edwards goes "...and there's a Blackhawk down behind the net".
