Leetch

Read in the Post this morning that Holgrem was scouting Leetch and the Rags last night. Brooks mentioned the Rags should get Carter for him. I certainly hope Clarke doesn't make a rash move like that but what do you think it would take to get Leetch from the Rags?

I am guessing Drozdetsky and Somik for Leetch. Any thoughts?

I still don't see how they could possibly have any interest in Leetch.

Yes, it was a fine thing for Brian Leetch to have contributed so significantly to last night's win. It was much, much finer that he did it in front of the watchful eyes of Philadelphia assistant GM Paul Holmgren.

Most significantly, the Flyers are in. If Sather can play this right, if he can bid it up, and if Bob Clarke truly believes that adding Leetch can get his team to emerge from the East, the Rangers might be able to come away from this with Jeff Carter, the 20-year-old can't-miss center out of Sault Ste. Marie, the 11th overall selection in last year's draft. Fact is, if Clarke wants Leetch, Carter must be the price.

I wouldn't mind picking up Leetch, but certainly not for Carter.

I would prefer a big physical defenseman (not readily available).

Team 1200 said in passing that Odelein is on the Flyers radar screen.

I suppose Holmgren could be at a Ranger game scouting Leetch, although it does seem a bit odd. It's not like Brian Leetch is an unknown prospect - I'm not even a Ranger fan and I can picture his moves and mannerisms in my sleep.

Mr. Brooks: What's to scout?

I'd take this deal in a SECOND.
Leetch has 2-3 good years left in him, carter won't be ready for years. Once again I'll say this... our club is aging. Half our players won't be around in 2-3 years. We need to make a run for it now, while our vets are playing well.

Well, now it's Larry Brooks advocacy of what the Rangers should get. I don't think they'd get that much. Besides which they have some puck moving defensemen and they should bring other defense skills type of defensemen and move them into physical defense type of situations. If they got Leetch maybe they move Desjardins, unlikely, but maybe he could fetch a physical defenseman, maybe if they add Therien or Timmander, I think those guys could bring something.

I have no problem trading any prospects or picks, but Leetch is not what the Flyers need. I don't think Carter would be the price for Leetch anyway. He's a good offensive dman and nothing more. If Clarke got Zhamnov w/o even moving Sharp, why would anybody believe he'd move Carter for Leetch.

Leetch should cost Sharp and a low pick. Nothing more. There is no way on God's green earth that Leetch should cost Carter. I would rather he go to the Leafs than see that happen. Leetch would be a luxury as he doesn't meet a need.

A clown like you couldn't last on the NYR board so before you go ripping other teams fans no what your talking about.John and a few other good posters from here come over and I'm sure they'll tell you the level of hockey knowledge is amoung the very best of HF so pipe down.

As for the Leetch situation--I don't think it's a good fit for either team.Leetch isn't what you need and the NYR's IF they are even going to move him would want a better package from the Flyers then they would to say move him out west as you are a division rival and one of our most hated ones at that so I don't see any deal here making much sense and don't see it happening.

Leetch is a Future Hall of Famer but

I've learned not to panic when proposals come up...Burke, Rad for Comrie and Seidenberg ring a bell? Just another "writer," with a deadline and no imagination spreading rumors. If Clarke did this deal I'd be joining the bashers...that's how ridiculous it would be. Enough Bobby...if you have to give up Carter you'd better be getting more than Leetch back...Rags give us Leetch and he comes back to bite their ***** maybe one more season. Carter could do it to us till 2024. Brendan Witt please, Gauthier even...we don't need another phyically challenged defenseman.

Please.....lets stop talking about trading Carter or Richards. Forget about it!!!

This insanity of trading youth for age has got to stop somewhere!!!!
Not one old guy Clarke has traded for in the past has helped win a cup.

Leetch will not help this team win a cup, no sense in jeopardizing the future. Carter and Richards could be the cornerstone of this franchise for many years, there is NO NEED OR DEPSERATION TO TRADE THEM!!!!!!!!! Stop the INSANITY!!! This organization has two bright young stars for the future and they should keep them.

I would love to get Brian Leetch. He's not quite the play he used to be, but he's still very effective and is still a better offensive defenseman than anyone we've got right now.

Though, I wouldnt' get to serious on what Larry Brooks says.

No, the Flyers have a chance for a Cup, possibly the last Cup for awhile, and they should go for it.

Leetch would improve the Flyers offense but he is not what we need. However, if what we need is not available then Leetch would not be a bad acquisition.
