Holmgen Scouting Minnesota.

What could this possibly entail?
A deal in the works ofr Gaborik?
I dont know how we could even swing that given we only have <1 million in cap space.
Scouting UFA Niklas Backstrom?

Supposedly he is scounting the Coyotes too.

Anyone have ANY idea of what Holmgren has in store with the west/mid-western trip?

Probably just scouting some defenseman, or a forward who he can get back in a Randy Jones trade.

Lupul, Jones, and a 1st for Gaborik

Gagne-Briere-Knuble
Hartnell-Richards-Gaborik
Upshall-Carter-Nodl
Cote-Metro-Asham

Coburn-Timonen
Sbisa-Carle
Vaananen-Parent

Subtract Alberts, Jones, Lupul
Add Gaborik

Hell, losing Alberts and Jones is addition by subtraction!

I would figure you would need to trade Hartnell because his contract is something like 4.3 million and Jones is what 3.5. With those 2 its almost 8 and I am not sure what Gaborik's is but I want to say it's somewhere around 7.5. I know this would never happen but it would have to be Harts over Lupul.

Gaborik a much better version of Martin Havlat. I do not want him. Flyers do not need more goals.

Probably another d-men (I hope not) or a center with size who can play wing and win faceoffs.

Give me Martin Hanzal maybe Homer thinks about moving Upshall? I hope it's Hartnell. His attitude is pissing me off.

or Brent Burns for Coburn type of trade or better yet Carle plus Nodl for Burns. I do not think Wild would do it tough.

Carle for Morris plus? I used to like Morris but I am not sure about his game now. Did not watch Phoenix for a long time.

I think Vaananen is out for a while with that finger injury.

Despite his talent in scoring goals, I want nothing to do with Gaborik being a Flyer.

I'd rather have Boogaard than Gabby. We need more energy than goal scoring at this point, as I feel this team lacks serious emotion.

Lupul will be making 4.25 next year and he makes 2.3 now.

Jones makes 2.75.

However, Gaborik is not the answer.

Gaborik is still hurt and not playing. Now if something was for Brent Burns, that would be interesting.

Defense is the answer Gaborik is not.
There are a bunch of very good D-men spread between those 2 teams.I am thinking Jovo-cop ,Morris,Zidlicky or possibly a back stop in Backstrom

If Burns or Schultz is moved you may see anarchy in Minne., unless the deal favors Minne.

****. Lupes is going to be making 4.25 next year. What genius gave him that contract.

I was just messing with Gaborik. I know we would never get him and that we need D before we need goals.

How is Gabby on the backcheck and defensive zone? I really don't follow him. It's unlikely to get him but the thought has brushed across everyone's minds.

Similar to Briere...

Put them on the same line and it'd be like playing 5-3 at even strength.

...which might lead to goals!!! Hey, we could be on to something.

The Flyers play the Yotes on the 22nd. Maybe he was just scouting for an upcoming game.

Neither one of those teams has anybody that jumps out at you as far as trade possibilities for the Flyers go.

I would absolutely be tickled pink if Homer managed a way to bring back Johnsson to the Orange and Black. He should have never been allowed to walk to begin with. Think of it - Timonen, Johnsson and Vanannen as the veterans and being partnered with Sbisa, Carle and Coburn. Absolutely sick pairings. That leaves Parent as the number seven guy or someone best served playing 20+ minutes a night with the Phantoms. Do it Homer!!!!!

At the time, the contract MIN offered was a bit hefty, and he was just coming off an injury when he signed it. Only now is he finally looking like the player he was with the Flyers, which makes it a good time to go after him, but I doubt MIN deals him.

It has nothing to do with Gaborik...and rightly so.

Let's not forget though that Clarke had signed Hatcher and Rathje to those ridiculous contracts in the offseason and there was very little money left over for Johnsson. Honestly, I don't think the Flyers ever had any intention of re-signing Johnsson. And the fact that he had one injury riddled year for the Flyers should mean crap. The previous seasons before that, he was more than healthy. The Flyers shot themselves in the foot with regards to Johnsson.

I'd give up a lot to get Burns or Johnsson on this team

They would never give up Burns though. He's my favorite player in the league and the thought of him and Coburn on our blue line is.... awesome

Oh man, Brett Burns would be ridiculous.

Again, I dont believe anything that awesome can happen for this team. Given the cap and contract situation.

Holmgren's kids from his first marriage live in Minny.

GM's are constantly scouting.
