Two weeks shouldn't be that big of a problem. I don't imagine the recovery will be that tough - he looked pretty good on Wednesday!
Salo, on the hand, is a concern. Even when he's healthy he can't seem to get open to shoot the puck. Time for a change of address?
I'd look at asking him to waive it. He'd probably waive it for a few teams (i.e. Ottawa?).
Salo's running on empty it seems. He is definitely out of the top 4 in my books (Bieksa, Mitchell, Ohlund, Edler) and I've even enjoyed the way that O'Brien has played compared to him.
Well, now we get to see Davison slot in which I can live with for the short term...at least he provides some toughness. But please God, don't let me see Nycholat on the back end...he's been completely useless in the action he has seen.
All the best on a speedy recovery to Bieksa. This sucks.

Probably see Nycholat if demitra doesn't play on Saturday. They need someone to man the point on the PP.

interesting, I was thinking the exact opposite! Davison hasn't impressed me, whereas we could use Nycholat's (limited, I know) offensive skill now that our best offensive dman is out.
Nycholat never bothered me. Hell, he hasn't had enough time to do much of anything bad nor good. I am fine with seeing him in the lineup if need be.
This really sucks about Bieksa, he was hitting his groove and playing amazing. Now when he comes back he risks playing badly for a week and having 75% of HF Boards wanting to trade him before "the rest of the league finds out what a useless plug he is".
Also, I think Salo has taken over as the mopiest looking Canuck since Naslund left. The guy always looks like you just kicked his dog or told him Sweden is a superior country to Finland......just enough to anger him, but not enough that he would retaliate and risk further injury.....hence he gets the mopey look on his face.
The entire blueline will have to step up to make up for his absence. Especially the way he was playing. Best d-man by a mile.
It's a challenge but they should be able to do it. Now if Salo can't go or they lose someone else it becomes a problem.
I think Davison will suprise some people. I always liked the way he played when he was in SJ and the extra grit that he brings, along with Mitchell and O'Brien, will make us a pretty tough group to deal with.
Now as long as he doesn't make any bone headed mistakes and take stupid penalties, I'll be fine with him for the next 10 days. Our schedule is tough but we should get some wins playing the likes of the Islanders and Leafs..

Head coach Alain Vigneault revealed Friday that defenceman Sami Salo will play on Saturday against the Toronto Maple Leafs, and that forward Pavol Demitra is ready to return after missing 10 games with torn rib cartilage.
Both those players were not certain to be among Vancouver's 18 skaters until practising on Friday.
I'm hoping Sami doesn't re-aggravate his shoulder. Good to hear Demitra is coming back. I wonder how the lines would look. I'm interested in seeing a Raymond-Wellwood-Demitra line. That could be a nice line.
Eh...Mitchell usually misses about 10 games a year which isn't too bad for a guy that puts his body on the line like he does. Most of Mitchell's injuries are the DTD variety...I can deal with that.
