How much for that Gerber in the window?

How much would Gerber cost to acquire for the Oilers? Chimera? Issy? Rita? Pick?

Offhand, maybe Rita or Niinimaki and a 2nd? Just a guess. Gerber has shown real promise at the NHL level, so that should raise his value a bit.

Rita would be doalbe (plus some sort of pick I'm sure), but I highly doubt EDM trades Niinimaki.

You could probably get Biron/Noronen rather cheap at this point as well..

Pretty high. He may make the lineup before Woywitka.

Wow, you guys believe in over paying. If he's moved, he will fetch a 2nd rounder at maximum. He's seemingly getting way too much credit.

i agree- not sure how far rita has fallen, but if edmonton offered a 2nd rounder, they could have gerber IMO. if i were the oilers though, i'd rather go and try to get biron.

Agreed no way he is worth more than a second.

Especially with the market being flooded by goaltenders right now.. there is no way Gerber is going to fetch Niinimai (essentially a 1st rounder) and a 2nd rounder. I'd give a 2nd round pick maybe if we could acquire Biron/Noronen..

Murray isn't an idiot...He is not going to trade Gerber for a 2nd rounder when there is no need to move him...offer up a top defensive prospect and you might get your team Gerber...

I'm sure that Bryan Murray would be happy to do Kevin Lowe a favor after the courteous manner in which Lowe dealt with Murray a few months ago.

we'll settle for a second rounder, but we'll ask Gerber to pay us $1 million

I don't think any of us were claiming Murray is an idiot.. I just don't think that many Oilers fans would be willing to move one of Semenov/Woywitka for Gerber as he already 29 years old and probably not as good an option as Biron or Noronen. Likewise, the going rate for a non-super star goaltender (Cechmanek, Kiprusoff, Hedberg) is a 2nd rounder, not a top defensive prospect. I don't think the Oilers would make a pitch for Gerber if the asking price included Semenov or another one of our top defensive guys..

yeah it was more of a response to the person who said "if Edmonton offered a 2nd rounder, they could have Gerber". I'm not disagreeing about his trade value which would be similiar to those 3 goalies you listed, im disagreeing about the fact that Anaheim would trade him as soon as a second rounder is offered. San Jose, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia all had their reasons for moving those goalies at fair market value, I feel that Anaheim has no reason to move Gerber at the fair market value(2nd round pick)...either Murray can get more than a 2nd for Gerber, or he will hold onto him.

I'm not sure if a backup goalie could get a top defensive prospect.

Well he's not going to be a career backup...hes a late bloomer who didnt come over to North America until his late 20s...at 29 he is about to enter his prime for goalies and he is wanting to be a number 1 for someone...backup for Toronto this year and starter once Belfour retires after this year sounds like a realistic scenario to me.

Don't use Hedberg as an example. That seemed like a bit of an overpayment, atleast in my opinion. Kipper seemed like an overpayment too.

I would love to see a scenario like that go down.
