KINGS vs. stars 11/13 Post Game THOUGHTS & TIDBITS

Big win.

Another solid performance by Ersberg, our great goalie

Simmonds was making things happen as well, good game for him.

Preissing had a great game! Very good passes (One that gave Simmonds kind of a breakaway), intercepting their clear out attempts.

Greene is a VERY solid defenseman, he's big and uses his size and he's blocking shots real good.
Also really good play in the face-off circle. Stoll's really good at that.
Solid game! Awesome!

GO KINGS GO!!!!

yay!

with all those penalties the stars are taking, I feel that they have become an old team that can't keep up with the young legs.

agreed, Greene is starting to grow on me. Very solid and dependable. It'll be good to have him around for 5 years. If he keeps it up, DL will look like a genius with this signing.

Hate to say it, but the Lubo trade for two these roster players is showing its promise.

While it's better to win 4 games than lose 4 games, can we at least acknowledge that the 4 victories are over the 14th and 15th ranked teams in each conference?

These are the games that they are supposed to win...

Not when we were supposed to be last in the conference and everyone said Dallas was a playoff team.

All this team needed was a dependable goalie. The Kings are so much better defensively this season it is not even funny. All of the forwards are getting in the passing lanes while backchecking. I lost count how many times the Kings were able to tip the Stars passes through the neutral zone, something that rarely happened while Crawford was coach.

Murray just needs to find an offensive minded assistant to run the PP. The Kings score twice on it tonight, but should have had 3 or 4. They had a 2 man advantage for almost 2 minutes and didn't create any solid chances. They stand around way too much and Calder is a horrible choice for PP time, just like Armstrong was.

Getting a chance to watch Calder live makes me wish that Murray would give Richardson a chance with Kopitar and Brown. His speed would add an additional dimension to that line, right now it is too easy to ignore Calder and key on Kopitar and Brown. BTW, Brown makes that one move between the legs almost every game and the defensemen still get beat almost every time.

That was a great third period by the Kings. They did a nice job protecting the one goal lead, but they also kept the pressure on and created a lot of chances. Simmonds with a nice shot off of the post.

Doughty is awesome, but he needs to work on getting his wrist shots from the point on net.

I can't wait for Johnson to get back so that Harrold can be taken off of the 2nd PP unit. Plus, Harrold doesn't know how to play the boards as a forward, he gets bumped off of the puck too easily.

Overall a great win for the Kings and a much better team to watch live. Moller was all over the ice tonight and looked good on the 2nd PP unit.

I know two other people already responded so I'm a little nervous that this is going to come of as harping ... if it does I apologize. But the Kings were the 14th or 15th ranked team in the conference last year. We're moving up .. up is a good direction.

1. they ain't showcasing Brad Richardson.
2. Calder ain't the one sandbagging that line
3. and Brown still doesn't score off of it... every time.

When Calder gets a prime scoring opportunity, he panics with the puck and can't finish. He's a good grinder but doesn't belong on the top line. Murray was probably hoping he would be a poor man's Smyth or Holmstrom.

Really solid game. Big big win. Dallas didn't give up.

Kopitar went from having probably his best game of the season to one of his worse. I think he had something like four turnovers and didn't bury a fantastic chance in the third.

Doughty stood out to me again. He's playing top PP and PK minutes now. Logged over 27 minutes tonight. Kid is amazing.

Quincey had a good game. Greene with a good game.

This win goes to our blueline. Period.

Oh, and I can't wait until Johnson is back so Gauthier can sit. Ugh.

If the King had a better PP, then they would score off of the penalty that he draws.

Our PP needs two things... MOVEMENT and another left shot... Not being able to invert the D for one timers is a huge loss at the moment..

I hate to keep picking on Kopitar, but that play with about two and a half minutes to go when he lost the puck in the neutral zone to Modano was beyond weak.

Mrs. Zad here again.
Thanks Jacob for starting the post game thread. We just got home and Mr. Zad is watching the recorded game and he refuse to post until the game is over. Shh don't tell him what happens.
But I'm glad at the outcome. He'll be in a good mood and I can get my way!

Kings just scored to make it 3-1.

Over .500!

Had to work late myself :/. Only got to watch the last 8 minutes of the game. Glad to see them hang on though!

The only thing no one mentioned is that the Kings are OVER .500 now. I can't remember when that happened last. Probably about a year ago.

Way to go guys! Last year, in a back-to-back with a Divisional opponent, we'd be the ones getting 1 point out of 4. Not this year with Dallas! Keep on working Kings!

Let's get those Predators back on Saturday for that Oct. 25th game.

Let's see...
  • 9 points of 10 in the last 5 games
  • over .500 (.533)
  • 10th in the conference - 1 point out of 8th with a game in hand
  • Ersberg 3rd in the league GAA at 1.93
  • 14th on the PP (7 for 23 in their last 4 games)
  • 5th on the PK
  • 1st in the league with fewest shots allowed
  • 5th face-off win %
  • Drew Doughty
  • Alexander Frolov

That's all that needs to be said for now.

- T

Yep, Kopitar has to be a lot stronger on his stick in that situation. He plays standing up too straight. He needs to bend over and bear down on his stick on a play like that.
