Quote:
Tomas Vokoun did not practice Thursday after the goalkeeper saw a chiropractor before Wednesday's game for back spasms. In the meantime, the Panthers promoted Tyler Plante from Rochester to back up Craig Anderson, who starts tonight.

Unless Radek Dvorak's hamstring stiffens overnight, the right wing will play tonight. Center Nathan Horton will also return, after sitting out the third period against Tampa Bay on Wednesday with the flu. Both players made it through Thursday's practice.
Gregory Campbell helps Panthers on power plays
Florida Panthers' Campbell could see more playing time
George Richards' Blog, Your Source For Reliable, Early Panthers Info!

Tyler Plante will back up Anderson tonight, though Anderson was slated to start anyway, regardless how Vokoun feels. Horton shouldn't miss the game and Dvorak is expected to return, no word on who the odd man out of the lineup is.

Red Hot Cat Of The Night Craig Anderson, with a shutout last game, has allowed 1 goal in the past 2 games.

Primary Target

Marian Hossa, the former Senator, Penguin and Thrasher, has forsaken all others to join the elite of the NHL. As if Detroit didn't have enough firepower, they get him too. You can see him here winning the 06-07 Heineken 3 Stars of the Year award. Yes, a cup that isn't just designed to have beer drank from it, it's sponsored by it.

LET'S GO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!

They HAVE to play like they did Wednesday night for the whole 60 minutes, otherwise its going to be a bad night. I expect them to play well tonight and show the NHL that while we are under .500 right now, we are better than that record shows.

I wish Vokoun wasn't injured and could start this game tonight. don't feel too good with Anderson in net. Hope we can get it done anyway, not expecting a win though.

I was at the game last night with my in-laws, they love the Red Wings. It was weird wearing a Wings shirt and cheering them on, as I don't much like them, but we had a lot of fun. Picked up a Cullimore stick from his time in Tampa. Was from the Cup year.

As PB said, if they play like they did Wednesday, they'll win. Tampa was agressive on the forecheck and got up by two goals in the first. The refs sort-of won that game for them with 3 penalties in the waning seconds of the 2nd.

They play DeBoer's system, they have a real chance to win.

I'm nervous with him in net against this team, but they play different in front of Andy. They really seem to get behind him. with the way he's been playing, hasn't allowed a goal in 5 periods, I'm looking forward to seeing how he does.

I'm predicting a Panthers win, IF HORTON PLAYS. Detroit had to extend itself last night and should at least start with a low energy level. Panthers, as silly as it sounds, play well when they're playing well, their streaky and fragile, and could be world beaters on their night. And the Cats are on an upward swing of their maddening yo-yo performances. Detroit MIGHT take them lightly. Good test for Deboer in that this is a winnable game at home that outsiders would consider an upset.

We have no choice but to play the way we did the other night. I really cannot wait for this game. We've already knocked off the Sharks, Ducks, and Sens this year. If we can add the Wings to the list, that would be a huge boost. LETS GO PANTHERS!!!!

Not many teams are going to be beating these Red Wings this year--and I hope the Panthers are one of them. Play exactly the same way and you have a chance--but that's true for every team we play rather than just the Red Wings. If these players get that in their heads then we'll be fine, whether or not we beat the Wngs.

But it sure would be satisfying, no?

I expect a very tight, exciting game. 2-1 Panthers.

Sorry--forgot to say 'thank you' for a very nice GDT. These are much better than the GDTs that I'm used to on the old Leafs board.

I dont see this being a 2-1 game, I expect a 6-5 type of game.

These games tend to have lower scores than you might expect. The Panthers game plan has to be to keep Detroit's scoring in check, since they can't win a run-and-gun. So a lower-scoring affair should be expected. If the Wings score 6, the score will be more like 6-2 or 6-1. I highly doubt the Panthers manage 6 unless they've really had some kind of awakening.

So I'd say Panthers winning would be something in the order of a 3-1 or 3-2 score, whereas Wings winning will be something like 4-1 or 4-2.

We're playing a team that has consistently owned us, and that now enjoys having Hossa, who has, similarly, consistently owned us. I don't care who is in net. This won't be a fun one.

I was at the Tampa game too, and as bad as Tampa got out shot and out played, the Red Wings still gave them a chance to win the game late.

I felt a bit sorry for the Lightning seeing so many wings fans in their arena. Every fan needs to bring some volume to tonights game.

Didn't the Panthers beat Detroit in their one matchup last season?

No, last year was in Detroit and we lost. I think the last time we played in our building we won.

I saw a few minutes of the game and when Detroit scored to take a 3-2 lead, the entire lower level looked like it was filled with white and red. You would have thought it was in Detroit.

Last year our only goals against Detroit were scored by Lidstrom and Chelios.

Tends to happen more often than not when the Wings are on the road.
