I'm partisan... but Perezhogin has been masterful over the last 20 games or so, averaging a PPG. Recently he's been on a tear... With the ups and downs that Hamilton has had this season, especially with such a young team, the kid has really adjusted well for someone who can't speak to anyone on his team yet (except Svitov when he was there). He may yet catch the leaders if he continues to improve shift-by-shift.
Ouellet has been one of the biggest suprises for WBS and the AHL altogether. Let me state this in terms. Michel Ouellet last year scored 20 goals and tallied 46 points in 56 games Wheeling (ECHL affiliate) than his production this year in WBS (which is 27 goals and 45 points in 68 games) Yes, he is on a cold streak in AHL terms (7 goals in last 20 games) But I think he can pull through for the AHL Rookie of the Year Award. Just watch, in 1-3 years, you'll be hearing his name get the call in the NHL.
Gotta toss in some of the local boys from Cleveland, I think they all are having amazing seasons. Craig Valette, Grant Stevenson, Jon DiSalvatore, Marcel Goc, Ryane Clowe, and Tomas Plihal all have potential written all over them.
Hope Clowe has a good career..nice to see a sucessful Newfie NHL'er.
Nfld has been producing a number of bright talents in the past 5 years...Watch out for Little Ryder, Ryan Mior and this year draftee Dan LaCosta in the near future.
I would say Matt Foy but the guy went and pulled his freaking groin and then the Wild decided not to spend any FREAKING MONEY on their AHL team to give Foy and Hannula the support!
On another note and this will sound funny but Derek Boogaard had an awesome season for a guy who wasn't even suppose to be even close to AHL level and people whined that he wasn't fit for the ECHL. No one wanted to go after Boogaard this much this year.
Oh yeah HEID SUCKS! I hope to God he gets better like Michalek and Reitz did this year...errr...well...I take that back but I hope to God, Heid can put his game together. Even Fortunus got the nod over Heid in the playoff game!
With that said, I have high hopes for Heid and hope he is just taking his time to get adjusted to the tempo of the game and I hope he gets a better surrounding cast next year.
Oh and Hannula had an awesome year for a 7th/8th round pick before Wallin left and he kept on getting injured.
