Halak in goal vs Flyers.

“We need a spark,” Guy Carbonneau said. “We need some consistency in goal as we do up front or on the blue line. We won’t win too many games if we give four, five or six goals.”

I think Halak is already confirmed... so I guess if I was Carbo, I would start Halak?

RDS confirmed that Halak is starting and that Carbo let know that if he gets the job done, he might start Sunday too.

Good.
Price with 12 ga in his laast 3 games is unacceptable.
1 shutout and then 2 game with 6 against is terrible.

If Halak is a star tomorrow and they win let him go for a stretch.

Hopefully Halak fares better than his last two games as well.

I just hope Prices inconsistency is mainly due to his young age and not something that will follow him through his career.

I seriously don't like Halak against the Flyers. Philly's an offensive powerhouse and I'm afraid he'll get lit up with a weakened defence playing in front of him. I hope he proves me wrong. Really concerned by this game.

I hope the weakened defence proves me wrong, I'm not as worried about Halak as I am about the defence. Either they'll work harder with Komi out, or they'll give up before they skate onto the ice.

Good move, hopefully Halak (and the team as a whole) will rise to the occasion, will be a tough game to win though as Philly will surely smell blood.

I remember at the end of last season we played our best defensive hockey without Komo in the line-up (hip injury). If the forwards are quick to help the D and the team shows some intensity we should be ok. I really like Halak, just not a fan of his rebound control or his upper-net coverage. With Philly snipers that can pose a problem.

I just hope we limit the shots and play more on their end. Their position in the standings somewhat hides their ability to score goals in bunches.

Yup, blame the goalie instead of your incessant ****** coaching, Carbonneau. Give the team a free pass and blame the goaltending, lovely work.

Do you honestly believe the rest of the team got a free pass? Its just that he can't sit the whole team.. but anyway its true Price has zero consistency.

He had 2 bad games... give me a break....

He is still 7-3-1.... although one of those losses is the ducks game which should be on halak IMO. So 7 wins in 10 starts.

Do you realize that even brodeur has back to back bad games?? IE before he got hurt he had a really rough weekend at the hands of the Flyers.....

I blame the team as a whole for a lack of effort, sad that Price have to pay but he was not so good as well.

He is inconsistent, and has been since day 1. Bringing up Brodeur in a post about Price is pretty lame, Price ain't no Brodeur.

You completely missed the point... I'm not saying Price is as good as brodeur.

The point is that if even the mighty Brodeur can have back to back games where he gives up 6 and 5 goals to the flyers in one weekend... surely we can forgive a 21 year old kid when he has two bad starts in a week. Especially when he is 7-0-1 in his other 8 starts this season.

It was only partly Price's fault, though. He let in 12 goals in two games the rest of the team was playing terrible in. The rest of the team played really well the night he got a shutout. The point is not why are so many shots going in but why are there so many shots in the first place? Why were Toronto and Boston playing 55* minutes a game in the Habs' end?

*Possible exaggeration. It may have been 53 minutes a game.

I don't care who was playing nets against Boston the other night, we were getting walloped. Nobody from the Habs wanted the puck. The Bruins had more than one occasion where they made four cross high-slot passes in a row and we just stood around and watched. When we did get the puck, we turned it over to them. It was pathetic. I can't believe people are using Price as the scapegoat. I can only assume that there are a lot more people on this board who post than who sit down for close to three hours and watch a game.

No one's blaming Price but this team needs some kind of spark and who's not to say that it won't be Halak? Look at JDD in Edmonton? Sometimes a coach has to make tough choices instead of the obvious ones. It's a gamble that could either pay off and if not oh well you move on to the next game.

As for Komi he's sucked all year. Not a big loss there and I'm a big fan of his.
